My heart began to slow, and then stopped beating at all; instead of diminishing my senses were becoming stronger.A realization then hit me; my life was undoubtedly about to change. Despite my wishes I was becoming something I didn't want to be, a vampire. I knew the being responsible for this would pay as soon as I awoke from the slumber needed for my transformation, but I suppose I should start in the beginning. I was born Susannah Adele Stackhouse in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana; daughter to to Michelle and Corbett Stackhouse. I also had a brother named Jason who was three years older than me. At the age of seven I lost my parents to a flash flood forcing Jason and I to be raised by my grandmother, Adele Stackhouse. Moving out of my parents' house and into my Gran's grand southern home was unbelievably peaceful and quiet. Not just quiet in the obvious way but mentally, you see, ever since I could remember I've been telepathic. Although many find it appealing, I thought of it as a curse, having to hear so many unwanted thoughts constantly cluttering my mind I would almost always be irritated. Me being a child I couldn't possibly build a mental barrier strong enough to shield all the thoughts coming at me. I didn't have the energy nor the proper training to shield the thoughts and listen to what people were actually telling me, so often I'd answer unasked questions and such. People being close minded just assumed I was crazy or slow rather than accept the possibility of my telepathy. My Gran lost her husband Earl a long time before an lost her son, Corbett, my father. Due to my Gran's health she couldn't work, and with Jason and I moving in, it was a financial strain for her. This led to my Gran's brother moving in to help us. Which turned out being the beginning of the end.
