Life Goes On

Shizuru arrived sleep deprived, sore, and a little hung over. She had scared herself in the mirror that morning, but that part was easily remedied with an extra dose of makeup. That way, she would keep her secret that she had spent the break doing anything but relaxing and enjoying her time off.

She had returned from Hanging Neck Island the day before and got home around midnight. The whole tournament lasted only a week, but it seemed like forever. Everyone was just happy to make it back in one piece.

Barely, Shizuru thought, disposing her cigarette in the ashtray just outside the beauty school. Baby bro nearly died several times. Genkai actually diddie.

She pulled a lighter from her pocket. Not to light up a new cigarette, but to admire the gold initials carved on the polished black casing.

This wasn't over. There was more in store for them all. Something even more dangerous. She could feel it.

Why worry about it now, though? She pocketed the lighter and walked inside her hairstyling class. Like there's anything we can do about it now? The normal world would go on, not knowing or caring whether or not she had other things to worry about.
