'Regina! Dinner's ready!' Emma walks into their bedroom and finds Regina sitting on bed, knees up to her chin and crying. The blonde sits next to her and puts an arm around her, worried expression on her face.
'Hey baby, what happened?' she wipes tears from Regina's cheeks and tries to look into her eyes.
'Nothing' comes quiet response.
'Hey' Emma puts finger under her chin and lifts her head up. 'Tell me what's wrong? Why are you crying?' Regina avoids her eyes, looking at something lying on the bed behind her girlfriend. Emma follows her gaze and laughs.
'Really? You're crying because of this?' She picks it up with a smile. It's a copy of "The fault in our stars".
'Shut up' Regina says and turns away, leaving Emma looking at her back.
'Oh come on, babe. I'm just teasing' she puts the book away and hugs her girlfriend from behind. 'I cried after reading this too, you know? The ending's kinda sad.'
Regina turns to look at Emma, eyes still wet with tears.
'I didn't cry because of the ending' the brunette says almost whispering. 'I just... I imagined what it'd be like – losing you, and I -I...' new tears are streaming down her face and she can't speak anymore. She puts her arms around Emma's neck and hides her face in her hair.
'Oh, honey' Emma hugs her tightly. 'You're not going to lose me. I'm with you and I'll always be. Okay?'
Regina lifts her head and looks lovingly into Emma's eyes.
'Okay' she says. Emma gives her the warmest of smiles and puts a hand on her cheek. They share a kiss, a silent promise, and Emma rests her forehead against Regina's.
'Okay...'
