"Harry, could I speak to you a minute?" Hermione caught the sleeve of Harry's robe and held him back from the door out of the Room of Requirement.
"But, Hermione, I've got to go talk to--" his eyes followed Cho out of the room then turned to his friend with a tired look in his eyes, "Yes, Hermione?"
"Harry, I'm worried about you," she said, turning her eyes downward to stare at the toe of her shoe, "Ron told me you weren't sleeping well and you hardly eat in the morning, and--"
"I'm fine, Hermione, really," Harry assured her with a half-hearted smile, "Just thinking about the Order is all. Wondering how Sirius is holding up."
Hermione looked back up at him and put a hand on his forearm, "That's not all. You look tired and distressed, like the whole world is resting on your shoulders and yours alone," she blinked back a tear. Seeing her friend under so much pressure depressed her more than she thought possible, "You're not going it alone, Harry. I won't let you."
"I'm all right. I promise," his eyes shone slightly brighter as he spoke reassuringly, as though the words were to encourage himself more than Hermione, "All I've really got to worry about is Umbridge finding us out. If that happens then... I don't know. Something bad."
"She won't find us," Hermione whispered to him as her hand moved from his arm to his shoulder, "She can't find us. Harry, nobody will find us."
"I hope so," he sighed and closed his eyes slightly, trying to visualize something happy to fill the hole that had suddenly formed in his chest. He felt empty, aged, and on the verge of snapping. He shook his head to clear his sad mind and opened his eyes to look again at Hermione. "We should go. They'll be--"
Hermione raised her lips to his cheek and left a gentle kiss on the soft skin below Harry's eye. She turned away and blushed.
Harry swallowed hard and felt his cheeks grow hot. He stuttered then snapped his mouth shut for fear of saying something he would regret more than "Herm-Hermione, I--"
She nodded and turned to the door, opened it slowly and walked out.

A/N: Yay! My first HP fic! There will be more to follow, including an HP/Star Wars x-over as soon as I get it beta-read by a friend of mine. Don't flame me much for continuity with the book, I haven't read it in over a year. I just had the movie to go by being I seem to have misplaced the series other than 6 and 7. I'm a die-hard Harry/Hermione shipper and I was desperately disappointed by the end of 7, but whatever... I will move on. That's what fanfics are for anyway! :D --lexx
ps: Read, review, tip your cabbie, blah blah blah
