Vampire Diaries Fan Fiction:

Klaus and Catalina

Back to when Klaus and his family had first moved to America, before they were turned into the first ever Vampires and the first Hybrid. Then they were just children to a large family, trying to live a new life in a new land. Klaus had wandered off to a new part of the forest, a meadow but not only a meadow but a secret one with that. It was tucked away into a path that was quite narrow and barely visible but he didn't miss it. Thinking it was a meadow for game, to hunt and bring back in hopes of approval by Michael. But it was not, seeing a figure in the meadow Klaus skulked in the shadows, his weapon at hand ready for attack. But he stopped fast noticing it wasn't at all an animal, well there was a deer foal that the girl was petting.

He was fascinated at the sight of the creature letting her pet him, but his attention didn't last long on the foal. Now Klaus was looking at the girl, her hair was a light auburn color that shined red in the sunlight; it was tied into one long braid that crowned her head and swung over her shoulder. She had a pale white face with barely visible freckles; her light grey/green bodice was lined with white. Though she wasn't very skinny, nor was she fat; simply she was thickly built. Klaus only thought of her as beautiful. Stepping out he leaned on a tree and spoke in his sly voice; "What do we have here?"

The girl looked up at him and then turned towards him, her legs crossed but mostly covered by her gown. "Well, isn't it the famous Niklaus Mikaelson. Fancy seeing you here... Prey, what are you doing?" She asked, clearly knowing his name, and that he was well known. But with a smile Klaus pushed off from the tree and walked over to her, his love waved hair blown back by the wind. "Pardon my rudeness, but what is your name?" He asked while crouching down to see he eye to eye. Blinking away the new blinding sun he realized her emerald green eyes that had flecks in the left one. All the more of what he would call her, beautiful. "You'll find out eventually, but I don't feel like telling you."

Klaus smiled while chuckling he looked to the ground, "I'll just call you Bella." Then at that point they were grinning towards each other. "Why?" She asked with interest for she could figure why he would call her. "You'll find out eventually, but I don't feel like telling you." She let out a tuft of laughter, "I'm Catalina."

And from then on they were friends, but every day they grew closer. They would ride horses through the forest in the summer, in the fall they would harvest together and climb trees, and in the spring they would return to the meadow and talk. But in the winter one year something happened between them, something big. It was a cold winter and Catalina's parents and sisters passed away from the flu, leaving her and her little brother to fend for themselves; but Klaus convinced his family to house them.

One night Niklaus and Catalina were last to be asleep, and had been talking about life ahead. And Niklaus looked at her and said, "There is one thing you should know…" He pause waiting for her reaction but then took a shaky breath… "I have always-.." But before Klaus could finish Catalina grabbed his hand and smiled, "I know, and I too.." As she breathed out her last word, Klaus leaned over in a slow way to caress her face. Closing both their eyes, a kiss was passed between them. Thus their love was born.

But then Klaus's mother had turned them into vampires, but Klaus had plans to propose to Catalina. This was a large bump in the road. But he had an idea, turn her, and he did. Happy, they both planned to live together forever; but Ester didn't want her around anymore. She felt as though Catalina was going to ruin Klaus's life so she had her other son, the eldest Fin to compel her to forget Niklaus. But once knowing what she had done, full of anger and pain Klaus killed his mother.
