The Prelude- Message/comment me if you like this and think that I should continue on.

The fabric of the couch was coarse and came unravelled in various places. Sean's coffee was cold, as it always was, with bits of coffee grounds swimming around within the glass. The world had been "blessed" said the anchormen when the news had first hit two weeks ago. Blessed—because there was time to prepare? How could you prepare for such a thing? Death was coming as a scorching inferno from above. There wasn't going to be some honourable heroics where Bruce Willis would save us all. That was clear to Sean. Blessed. At least the riots had begun to calm though. The people on the streets could only loot and destroy so much before the reality of it all had finally begun to sink into them as well, but where the general populace had finally calmed the men in seats of government were just at the starting gates of their own panicking minds.

As if a gigantic meteorite hurling towards Earth was not enough, our governments had to make it worse. So what was going to be their amazing Bruce Willis act to save Earth? Their calculations were so precise- so exact—that they knew the giant rock was going to impact Russia in three more weeks' time. From that point the rest of Earth would be wiped clean… Unless… They developed a theory that if a large enough crater was already present at the projected impact site in the Earth BEFORE the meteorite were to actually impact then they just might survive. Russia did not seem too keen on this idea (especially since this crater was going to be made with a diameter of slightly over 3,000 miles). All eyes and nuclear missiles were directed at Russia to see what would happen next. Meanwhile all Russian nuclear missiles were directed towards the rest of the world.

"If the meteorite doesn't get us, nuclear winter will" thought Sean. Sean obsessed in his books. Not modern novels, but little old fairytales and legends to occupy his mind. "If only the world was more simplistic like a fairytale. If only there really was magic to put this all right…" And if only he knew what was coming…
