It had been three years, four months, fifteen days, three hours twenty-seven minutes, and fifty six seconds since Rose had last seen the Doctor when she first arrived at the mansion. She had tried not to count and she hadn't been, she just knew. Somehow Rose Tyler knew every ticking second to the number since the love of her life had faded from her sight on the cold beach in Norway. She had been lying to her parents for the past three years, telling them that she was fine and even pretend to be moving on. She worked at Torchwood, went drinking with her friends, and even went on a couple of first dates. Never a second date, though, whenever the man would call back she would always apologize and say that she had another obligation and then never call him back.
It was mid-summer when Jackie and Pete started worrying about Rose again. She had altogether stopped dating, never went out with her friends, and was constantly working. In an attempt to ease their daughter's pain and to prevent her from over working herself as she had been they sent her to the Tyler Vacation house, a "short" plane ride away...all the way on the Tyler Private Island in the Caribbean. It was just Rose there for the week, she had insisted upon it when she realized that there was no way of convincing her parents were forcing her to do. In the massive mansion she was the only person there, the only person on the entire island, despite her mother's complaints, for a week.
It was early Tuesday morning, after four months, sixteen days, eleven hours forty-six minutes, and fifty three seconds, when Rose heard the distinct sound of foot steps in the large atrium down stairs. Knowing her family was not due to arrive for another week she hurriedly slipped on an old sweatshirt and sneakers before hurrying towards the source of the noise. Standing at the top of the large staircase she spotted a single man starring out the wall of windows at the turbulent sea and rising sun. He was tall, thin, with a mop of brown hair, and wearing a tweed jacket. Rose knew who it was.
Slowly she walked up behind the man and tapped his shoulder. He did not turn to her so she tapped him again.
Slowly he turned towards her, sad green eyes meeting hopeful hazel ones.
A sad smile formed on his face "Hello."
She grinned back madly, "Hello."
Rose opened her mouth to say something but words would not form, instead she reached out her arms and pulled the man close to her, holding onto him like he would disappear any second.
"Hello, Doctor." She whispered into his ear as tears began to leak from her eyes.
Feeling her shoulder dampen with his tears she heard the new new new Doctor reply "Rose Tyler...I love you."
