Dean faces the consequences of their Swan Song
Time passed but brought no healing. Knowledge prevented it.
Knowing exactly what it meant for his brother as each deceptively short month slipped by; what that had meant for him.
Decades were blending into one long torment for Sam, lost in Hell.
Wondering whose student Sam would become when he finally broke - as all souls must eventually break; even the best and most loved.
Feeling empty of anything except a hunger so formless even Famine wouldn't have recognised it.
The black hole inside him could not be filled by 'normal' and apple pie.
It could not be filled at all.

A/N : Who knows what Sam was doing outside Lisa's house under that sparking lamp? Was he a ghost? A demon? A resurrected, redeemed, rescued Sam? And how long was it between the events in Stull and that scene? Here I am assuming at least some time has passed….and that Sam may walk away because he thinks Dean deserves that chance at 'normal'.
