Rose always disliked surprises. It made her feel ignorant and unprepared. It made her feel paranoid.

That was why Rose dreaded April Fool's Day.

Today, it came on a Saturday in her 5th year of Hogwarts. She, being a Ravenclaw, was reading a heavy book at the time in the library.

And she didn't expect the surprise. Not one bit.

A pair of hands cupped her eyes at the same time as lips kissed her cheek.

The darkness was lifted as soon as the kiss ended, and she looked up to see Scorpius Malfoy smiling at her.

Had he kissed her? Had her best friend finally done what she had wished for so long?

But, then she realized something. He wasn't just smiling a dazzling smile.

He was laughing.

And James Potter II suddenly appeared in her vision. He was laughing as well. "My dear cousin, April Fools!".

At that moment, she understood. They had pranked her. Made her think Scorpius kissed her cheek, but in reality it had just been her cousin.

They were truly cruel. She loved Scorpius, and he had made her believe that he reciprocated the feelings. But now, she knew that he didn't.

As she ran away from them, and as tears streaked across her face, she realized something.

She didn't dislike April Fool's Day.

She hated it.

Poor Rose, eh? I just got the idea and had to write it down.
