Inspired and based off of Seeing You Again.
Half Moon blinked open her eyes to, surprisingly, see grass, trees, and plants instead of the rocky terrain she and her tribe-mates lived in. Narrowing her eyes in confusion, she got up then gasped as she saw her nest- well, it didn't look like her's- disappear into dust in front of her paws. Shivering, she got to her shaky paws and glanced at the forest around her. Her eyes widened as she scented a familiar pelt. She snapped her head around to find him. Him, the cat who guided the tribe to the mountains. Him, the love of her life.
Him, Jay's Wing.
"Jay's Wing! You're back!" she yowled happily as she worked her tired paws to run towards him. As soon as her muzzle hit his fur, her vision went black for a heartbeat. She couldn't see him and she ended up nearly faceplanting into the dirt ground. She winced and snapped her head around, looking for her lover.
"Jay's Wing? Jay's Wing!" she wailed. "Where are you?" she whimpered. Suddenly, the trees turned to ash and an unexpecting gust of wind blew them towards her. She coughed and squinted at the now dead-looking woodland. She slammed her paws on the rocky ground, ignoring the pain.
"No! No! Jay's Wing!" she cried. "No, no, no nooo! I found you!" she didn't understand. In fact, she didn't understand why he had left. He loved her, didn't he? She tucked her muzzle into her paws and sobbed, the darkened sky looming over her.
"Half Moon!" a voice called.
"Half Moon!" she snapped her tear-filled eyes open. Lion's Roar and Dove's Wing were standing over her. Dove's Wing looked at her through concerned eyes.
"Are you okay, Half Moon?"
"Yeah," said she-cat croaked, her throat sore.
"No, you're not," Lion's Roar interrupted. "You were calling out 'Jay's Wing' in your sleep." the younger tom added softly.
"I miss him." she whimpered.
"We all miss him," Dove's Wing added, letting her tail rest across the healer's back. She inwardly scolded herself. 'You're the healer! You're intended to comfort your tribe-mates! Not vise versa!' All three cats leaped back as a figure appeared in the cave.
"What the-" Lion's Roar started. The cat- a tom, no fur and bulging gray eyes- swept his -blind?- eyes over them.
"I am Rock," he stated. "And I have a, proposal, for you."
Half Moon narrowed her eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"You wish to see Jayfea- Jay's Wing again, correct?"
Half Moon's eyes widened.
"Wait- what?! I can see him again?! Where is he?"
"He isn't here, not even close." her tail dropped. "But, I can take you to him."
