Loki stepped carefully towards the two cowering children. "Paula, Preston?"

The children squeezed closer together and farther away from the strange man. They just wanted their mommy back.

Loki kneeled upright in front of them. "I would never do anything that could hurt you."

The children scrunched their eyes shut.

"She was my family too." Loki willed back the tears threatening to spill. He was practically a god, he should not be weeping over a mortal. The mortal. His mortal. Darcy.

Memories flooded over Loki, Darcy teaching him how to play video games. Him teaching her the ways of Asgard. Him making the biggest mistake of his life and leaving her. He didn't know she was pregnant. How could he? It was too early on to tell. Maybe she knew, but didn't tell him.

Loki forced himself back to the present. He looked the children in their eyes. His children. The ones he'd watched grow up from his chambers in Asgard. He knew them, but they didn't know him.

"You're all that's left of what I knew. You must know somewhere it's true! Do you understand me?" Loki took a breath, and held it, waiting for an answer.

AN: Ta-da! What do you think? Like I said, chapter one of my upcoming fic should be posted within the week. Thanks for reading, please review! (And if you know where I got Loki's words from, I'll give you internet-cookies. Hint: Starkid)
