I do not own Harry Potter
Pairing: Bellatrix/Charlie
Charlie supposed that the reason why he was so damn attracted to Bellatrix was that she was basically a dragon.
He smiled, thinking about the way her temper flared uncontrollably, the dangerous glint that was always in her eye, and her love for fire, destruction, and chaos. These are the things that make him want to go after her, and tame her like he tames so many others in his line of work. But the fact that she's untameable makes it all the more exciting and challenging. She's unpredictable too, with her constant changes of mood. One minute she's the embodiment of upper class civility, a true daughter of the noble House of Black. The next she's screaming curses at the top of her lungs, throwing things that only narrowly miss colliding with his head.
She doesn't know what to do with him, because he stays and nobody stays with her unless they're forced to. And that's probably why she keeps coming back, because she's trying to figure him out, while he's trying to tame her.
The game goes on and on in a hypnotic way, it keeps Bellatrix busy and Charlie entertained. And nobody can question it, because nobody knows. Charlie often considers the repercussions in the wizarding world if the existence of this game got out. What would his parents say? His friends? They'd wonder what was wrong with him, and how he had managed to survive this long without a killing curse coming his way. And what about her side? The family shame of mixing with a blood traitor, not to mention consorting with an active enemy of her people.
Like a dragon, Charlie thinks Bellatrix is just misunderstood, and so it drives him to try and seek for a special connection like he does with the others, but she doesn't allow it. Something has scarred her that stops her cold. Any time Charlie tries to get to know her better, she starts to rampage. She doesn't just become angry, she becomes confused and frustrated, so Charlie stops. Her words, her actions, her wand, they show off her raw aggression and power…but he can see in her eyes that she's terrified.
So he lets her go, for her own good. But she doesn't want to go. She wants to continue the game forever and ever. For the first time in his life, Charlie finds himself with a dragon that has too much spirit to capture, but not enough to heal.
Charlie runs a hand through his long hair in deep contemplation.
This wasn't part of the job description.
