They had to kill.
That was the thought running through Haruna's mind as she looked up at her brother with big, shaking eyes, afraid if what comes next. They were trapped in this wretched place, and the only way out was to kill. To kill, and get away with it. Haruna couldn't do that- she'd only break down in tears. It was useless.
They had already seen so many of their friends die already.
Natsumi and Aki. Fubuki- Fubuki's was the worst. He had killed himself. Gouenji and Someoka, and poor Midorikawa. Endou was always blabbering on about how they would all survive, but the situation was despondent.
There was no hope left, and they all knew that.
"Onii-chan, what are we going to do?" Her voice was shaky, tired, and about to just break.
Kidou loathed that question. It meant he was going to have to lie to her, even if he didn't want to. He had to tell her everything would be okay, he had to let her know that they'd be safe and that he and Endou would find a way out of this place soon, that he would protect her- but he couldn't. He just stared, knowing the answer. They had to kill.
How pathetic.
They both knew it. The problem? One would be left behind if the other killed, unless they both died.
And there was only one obvious way for that to happen.
"Haruna."
Her brother's voice was shaky, yet strong at the same time. He didn't want to say it, but he knew the idea was resonating in both of their heads, the horrible idea. One had to kill the other and live with it, until they were found out.
It seemed easy enough, but who could really live with the pain of killing their last loved one? By their own hands, watching as their blood dripped down like tears, a horrible sight that you caused.
But Kidou was willing to do it if it saved Haruna the pain.
"I'll do it."
Haruna looked up at her brother, afraid. Was he really willing to sacrifice his humanity to keep her sane? What would he do? Could he do it?
"Haruna, I'll be fine."
Kidou trusted his sister to trust him. He sat down next to her, his arm around her back. He held her softly, tightly, comforting her, as he saw a tear slide down her cheek.
"Shh, shh." He pets her, her dark blue hair. They would be fine. They would be fine; yes. Kidou only had to do the deed, and they would be done.
He wanted it to be over with.
Pathetic. Selfish. What a fool.
The younger girl looked at her brother, eyes big in fear. He stood up, walking into the bathroom. He came out, a knife in hand, muttering words under his breath repeatedly.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Over and over again. Slowly, he walked to his sister, and pinned her down on the bed. Her breath hitched, scared of her brother. He sighed deeply, keeping her pinned down.
"Onii-chan, you don't need to; please." She mumbled out, tears threatening to spill out of her eyes. He wouldn't actually do it, would he...?
No, Onii-chan would never do that, Haruna convinced herself. He would think rationally, he would stop, he would put the knife away and they'd live strong and together, even in this hell. They would have each other. He wasn't that desperate that he'd kill her, would he?
Smiling bitterly, he looked down at Haruna.
"I wish you were never born."
It was his last attempt at making her hate him, before he swung the knife down into her heart, her face etched in horror.
The deed was done.
Kidou Yuuto was a killer.
