Stop Crying Your Heart Out (oasis' great song, my fanfic)
"Whose the boss here?"
"I am" Ralph bemused at himself. He still had a little humanity left, probably.
Somehow, he knew Jack won't take this too lightly. He was partly sure Jack
wouldn't, however, react but he was partly afraid Jack just might.
(Hold up, hold on
Don't be scared
You'll never change what's been and gone)
"Anyone dead?"
"only two"
That's right Ralph, he thought to himself bitterly. Simon, beaten to death.
Piggy, pushed off a cliff into a grim mass on the cruel grounds.
Jack lost to savage impulses.
(May your smile (may your smile)
Shine on (shine on)
Don't be scared (don't be scared)
Your destiny may keep you warm)
Ralph was caught off-hand. He could no longer hold
it in. His reserve crumbled and resembled the conch.
Respectable. Beautiful. Kept and lost into oblivion
Ralph like that. His air of authority turned into tears,
memories pushing them out. He was overcome with so
much sadness he seemed to tremble.
He and Jack had dreamt that they will go back to
the land of theirs and yet...
(Cos all of the stars
Are fading away
Just try not to worry
You'll see them some day
Take what you need
And be on your way
And stop crying your heart out)
He remembered how they briefly released anxiety
and lived as if they were back in civilized hands.
They pointed to the fading stars, not knowing their
warm smiles would fade like them and turn predatory.
Oh how could this be... They were no longer boys.
They were not men either. They were the beasts.
They were so afraid of it that they killed and destroyed.
Ralph bitterly wept. If they knew they were the beasts,
could they have stood living with themselves? He heard
weeping, from soft, held-back whimpers to loud sobs. He
cried with them too.
(Get up (get up)
Come on (come on)
Why're you scared? (I'm not scared)
You'll never change
What's been and gone)
Ralph was ushered by the naval officer back to
the cruiser. The boys followed, some reluctantly.
Ralph's tears fell emotionlessly and carried away the
dust on his face. He didn't need to look back. He only
knew too well that he couldn't hope to see any sign
of the schoolboys who once walked here. Nor did he
wish to see the results of the consuming savagery.
He was sure, however, that the island looked immaculate
again. White sands with alluring comfort to the sorrowful.
How cruelly ironic was this dream? A dream. How Ralph
wished it was just that and wake up again. Normal and
happy.
(Cos all of the stars
Are fading away
Just try not to worry
You'll see them some day
Take what you need
And be on your way
And stop crying your heart out)
Ralph, now cleaned, looked out of the window.
Bidding farewell to that island.
(We're all of us stars
We're fading away
Just try not to worry
You'll see us some day
Just take what you need
And be on your way
And stop crying your heart out
Stop crying your heart out
Stop crying your heart out)
Never again will he be the same.
Scars that were brought on with
a knife heavy with emotions take
time to heal.
But there was always hope. The
sunset seemed to affirm that warmly
on Ralph's newly bathed and washed face.
As the fading stars will always come back.
Stop crying your heart out Ralph.
Beneath the cruiser, the water beated
gently. Cradling the boys home.
