Chapter One- Of cardboard boxes, bowties and genetic
Five year old Jack Smith stood back and admired his work. His clothes were spattered in blue paint and his parents would be angry with him for using a scissors and taking their alarm clock, but his work was done. He had turned the cardboard refrigerator box into a time machine. A bright blue time machine with "Police Call Box" written on top with permanent marker and a door. The alarm clock was for setting the time of his destination. Jack ran a hand through his messy blond hair. His granny was fond of saying he had his mothers hair colour, lips and nose, but his daddy's hair style, nose and eyes.
"I am going to call it a TARDIS. Now, all we need is a sonic screwdriver," he exclaimed, and paused. Where had that thought come from? What were a sonic screwdriver and a TARDIS? Hmmm? Maybe they were one of the inventions his daddy was working on. Yeah, that was it. He had heard his daddy talk about them. Jack smiled.
"Oh, this looks interesting," a voice said behind him. Jack spun around, and his eyes widened. A strange man was standing in the garden. He had long brown hair, a funny chin and he wore a bow tie, round glasses and fez. He was looking at Jacks new made TARDIS.
"Who are you?" Jack demanded.
"Me? Um, Jackson, that's right. Jackson Lake," the man said, flashing a piece of paper at him. Jack opened his mouth in an 'O'.
"Was that from Captain Flash of the Space Cadets?" Jack asked in wonder. Captain Flash and the Space Cadets was his all time favourite programme. The man in the bow tie and fez smiled.
"Yes. Yes it is. His hair is not actually that curly you know, he gets it done at a hairdresser," the man names Jackson said.
"You know him?" Jack asked, getting as hyper as any normal human child would when they realise someone knows someone famous they like. Then his chest gave a painful twinge, and Jack grimaced. Before he could blink, Jackson had whipped out something with a green light at the end and made a buzzing sound. The pain in Jacks chest kept increasing.
"Not good, not good," he kept muttering. "Time Lord DNA trying to assert itself. Hmm."
He was beginning to scare Jack, but the pain was worse than his fear. He felt tears come to his eyes, and his lip trembled. "Help me," he sobbed. He saw the man look at him softly before darkness took him.
When he woke up, he was in his own room, and his mammy and daddy were standing at the foot of the bed talking. His daddy was holding a blue piece of paper.
"I swear Rose, I didn't know this would happen."
"I know, I know. What does he mean, back again when its time?"
"From what he told me, the short trip they took in the TARDIS was enough to nullify the Time Lord DNA asserting itself just yet, but as he gets older, the more it will try to assert itself again until Jack will have to have regular travels with him. More than likely puberty, with all those hormones."
"But what he said about River Song?"
"He said she was conceived on the TARDIS. She was unique, as unique as Jack, but in a different way. She was shipped through time by the Silence, whoever they are. The artron energy given out saturated her body, in effect giving her antibodies to the changes so they did not hurt her."
"What will we do?"
"Tell him, when he's old enough to understand, or when the Doctor comes again."
A/N: What do you think?
