I don't own Final Fantasy 7 or any of the characters et al there in. I'm just playing with them for my own twisted amusement, and hopefully yours as well. ^^ This idea came from a friend who was trying to think of really unique pairings and CidxSephiroth was about as unique as it got. So be sure to give me lots of feedback on what you think of it. I'm kinda stuck so feedback will help me finish it!

Shin-Ra's Midgar headquarters was always a hustle and bustle of activity. Office workers, scientist and bureaucrats all came and went at any given time. Sephiroth frankly found coming to the HQ distasteful and avoided it as best he could. After all there were only so many times one could be hit on by overeager secretaries before wanting to commit mass murder. Though he had been promised that this was going to be a quick trip, reporting the current condition of the soldiers to the President and a check up with Professor Hojo and then he was supposed to be out of here.

Of course Hojo's idea of a short visit and everyone else's idea of a short visit were vastly different.

He paced the tiny waiting room, willfully ignoring the President's drooling secretary whose eyes seemed glued to his partially bared chest. Eventually he stopped pacing and settled for looking out one the windows (therefore giving the secretary a lovely view of his ass, which resulted in yet more drool). The window was high enough up that whoever looked out of it had a nice view of prosperous Upper Midgar, conspicuously hiding the slums beneath the plates of Midgar. After all why would they want to remember the toiling masses forced to live in darkness while they ran around in the sunlight?

Sephiroth heard the door of the office open, and purely out of curiosity turned to see who was exiting the President's office. He saw the fat form of Palmer waddle out, talking with the President, an idiotic smile plastered on his florid face. But what really drew his attention was the man following both of them. He was younger than both Palmer and the President by at least ten years if not more. He was wearing an ill-fitting suit, which he was obviously not comfortable in. His posture was somewhat slouched, hand shoved in the pockets of the suit jacket. The pale blonde hair was messy, though a valiant effort had been made to tame it. The man's face was rather handsome, with solid features, and a somewhat square jaw, which had a five o'clock shadow, despite the face that the man had obviously shaved that morning. Sephiroth instantly like the man, and he didn't even know his name.

However his scrutiny hadn't gone unnoticed, as was evident when he was confronted with the combined bulk of both Palmer and the President standing in front of him. He managed to mask his distaste easily from the years of practice he'd had. He nodded respectfully to the President, however he didn't offer a nod to Palmer. "General Sephiroth, I'm glad to see you! You've met Palmer before haven't you? He's the head of our Aeronautics division." Sephiroth nodded, managing to make it look like he was interested in the conversation, again from years of practice. "He and his young engineer, Mr. Highwind here," a negligent hand waved to the younger man in the suit, "have just come to me with an interesting proposal. Very interesting indeed." Here the President trailed off, visions of dollars signs dancing in his head no doubt.

Sephiroth took the President's distraction as a chance to take another look at the young engineer, only to find himself facing a pair of sharp blue eyes. He tilted his head to the side, the long platinum hair swaying slightly, cool green eyes returning the gaze steadily for a moment. For a perverse reason he was glad that the other man didn't flinch and look away as so many did. Obviously Highwind was not a pushover, or another disgusting sycophant trying to move up the social ladder by sucking up to any ShinRa official that came into reach.

After a moment ShinRa shook himself, turning to Sephiroth with an oily smile on his face. "Go on into my office, I'll be in just a minute." Sephiroth turned his green eyes to the President again, inclining his head in acknowledgement of the orders before turning to face the open doors. He strode through them, his boots thudding dully on the highly polished tiles. He gave Highwind a final sideways glance before he entered the office and sat down in one of the armchairs. Distantly he could hear the President and Palmer continuing discussion of whatever great idea Palmer had proposed, though their voices grew fainter as they moved off toward the elevator.

Settling himself down to wait for the President, he half hoped his meeting would go on long enough for him to escape his 'visit' with Hojo.
