Little Haru
I remember the day I found a small box on the corner of an ally leading to my house. Inside that box was a small little chibi of a human called Haruka or Haru for short. He was 5cm tall and was obsessed with water. Every day after work I came in to see him sat in a small tub of water relaxing. That is when he was at his happiest. At dinner he use to stand by the stove and handle cooking his own dinner which was mackerel himself. I never once asked for my help which was probably for the best because I am the worked cook anyone could ask for. Haru never spoke that much apart from giving me handy tips when I make a mess of things in the kitchen and sometimes saying goodnight before going to sleep. He even had his little bed right on the dressing table next to mine which he made himself out of cotton wool. He was a very handy person for his size. When we first met he seemed a bit of a tsundre but he started to show more care when the time past. Sometimes when I got home from a hard day of work I would see a plate of mackerel on the table. To thank him, every time I took a bath I always left the door open just in case he wanted to join in. One time after I came home from work (I work in a school nursery with young children) after trying to teach the children how to swim and having no luck what so ever. Haru stood on my lap and gave me some of his… advice "The water doesn't like them" he said. It wasn't very helpful but at least he tried. Haru and I just lived life quietly. Helping each other when needed that is all what we needed to do to survive. One day it was his birthday and I wanted to give him something special as a token of our friendship. I wanted to make something unique for him. Like a little scarf or something. Something simple but effective. I remember staying up all night trying to understand the instructions in the book I borrowed from Rei (he's like a library) about knitting. I admit. I am terrible all things to do with arts and crafts but it shouldn't be this difficult! Then Haru came and climbed onto my lap and looked at me in a way he had never did before "Makoto, you don't need to go through all that trouble of making something" he said and then began to blush and turn away "Just… you being there for me is enough" I gasped. Those words really touched my heart. It made me felt so, special . "Haru!" I said by gently raising him to my chest and hugging him. Then, For the first time ever I saw a small smile appearing on his little face.
