Trials

By Ace Warbringer

Of all the roads, I have walked,

The trials I have faced

Battles fought in Snow and blood,

Enemies laid Waste.

I search for answers, evermore,

My trials, unending count,

I march in Sand and blood,

Questions only Mount.

They asked me questions true,

In trials by the book,

Made to answer in Law and blood,

Caught upon their Hook.

Naught I am, but Machine

My trials answer told,

Truth is found in Heart and blood,

As man, I grow Old,

I disobey, their orders wrong,

Their trials, to break me,

Bound no more in Soul and blood,

Now, I am free.

To search upon any find,

To trials I must face,

To find Her by Trace and blood

My debt, I must Erase.

Armor worn about my self

Won in trials, square,

It carried Her in War and blood,

And now I only Despair.

Her whispered voice haunts me still,

My trials must be won,

Heard through only Time and blood,

Of armor, my heart has none.

No mantle I will take,

No trials empty Curse,

I make this oath, in Rhyme and blood,

This promise, to Her, in Verse.

Now I walk these empty roads,

My trials answer found,

Answers came in Mind and blood,

My heart, to Her, be Bound.
