Alone

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters in Transformers Prime.

Arcee was always alone. No one could understand the pain of losing their closest friends. Either they did not understand or they did not want to.

Even Optimus, who was often isolated by his status as a Prime, could not understand. It was frustrating to have no one to talk to about loss. Humans had that liberty at any time they wanted.

Bulkhead was just too soft for his own good. He would not know what to say. That, or he would try t tell her it was okay. She did not want pity.

Bumblebee was too sweet. He would try to say he understood when he really did not, just to make her feel better. Besides, he was too young to put that kind of stress on.

Ratchet was too harsh. He would tell her to grow up. To get a life and move on. Or he would overcompensate by saying he understood and expecting her to cry and go all shrink on her.

Optimus was out of the question completely. He had enough on his plate as it was. Carrying the burden of all Autobots. The last hope for peace. Of course he would understand, but she did not want to trouble him.

So she said nothing. Her feelings and emotions were locked away and she threw away the key. She did not even bother to try to find it. What was the point? She would be treated like glass, porcelain. That was the last thing she wanted. So she kept to herself.

It was so much easier. Easier to hide. Conceal and do not feel. Just put on a good front and no one would notice the agony inside. It was how she was. Cold and unfeeling she heard some Autobots call her after Tailgate's death.

She did not care. At the time, it was true. Others opinions never mattered to her much anyways. Slowly, she started to hear voices. They made her feel awful. Survivors guilt. He came to save her and he died trying.

It haunted her. She felt as if she was to blame. It was all her fault. Then Cliffjumper came along, cheerful as if nothing had ever gone wrong. At first, Arcee resented him for it.

He did not know the pain of losing his best friend. He was kind enough to listen when she needed a confidant, when she needed a friend. He had found the lost key and unlocked her. He did not mind it when she snapped at him. In fact, he took it in stride. Her best friend was always by her side. Even when she would have a nightmare about Tailgate.

He always seemed to notice when her emotion were off. When she was happy or scared. He was always there for her and vice versa. He brought the warmth back into her voice and in her were a beautiful couple.

She laughed again, she smiled. Those things she never seemed to d after the loss of Tailgate. Cliffjumper brought light to the darkest places in her spark. He made the voices go away. He loved her with all his spark.

All good things must come to an end. In the end, he was snuffed by Starscream. He never seemed to care whether he was in danger. As long as Arcee was safe, he was happy. Maybe that was what made her so mad when he had died.

She reverted back to the cold, aloof Autobot she had been, willing to stretch the rules just a little if she thought it would get the job done. Sometimes, blatantly disobeying orders.

She was alone. Because that's all she really is.
