The ballroom looked magical. The masked ball had a surreal air about it. And for a moment Relena felt the wonderment of a child again. At war's end life went on, she smiled wistfully content at least those she cared for enjoyed their peace. Suddenly she felt eyes on her, he was dressed ala Phantom of the Opera. And he stood there watching her with eyes of cobalt blue; gracefully crossing the room he bowed. Silently he offered her a rose. Relena smiled lifting it she drew in its sweet fragrance.

"Thank you." He offered her his hand drawing her into the dancers. Neither spoke strangely content with one another's company. All too soon the clock chimed.

"It's time to remove out masks," she smiled sadly.

"Relena" he whispered huskily, pushing back the mask he stepped forward cupping her face his lips closed over hers in a gentle kiss. With a shivery sigh of longing her eyelashes fluttered open and met his. " Duo she murmured questioningly, dreamily?"

Duo eyes tenderly caressed her face. "Now you know how I feel, all my masks are gone."
