It was a sunny afternoon in Albuquerque. 18 year olds Troy Bolton & Gabriella Montez were a little sad, despite how it was a Friday. Tonight, their friends were going out to party, whilst they stayed home & watched their newborn baby. Gabriella had tried her hardest to make Troy go, and she'll watch the baby. But Troy rejected each time. Grace was both their responsibility, not just Gabriella's or Troy's.
"Troy.. you should just go. I'm fine to watch her." Gabriella felt quite bad. Here they were in their last year of high school, with a baby. No more partying at all.
"I can't let you do that Gabby. If they want to throw a party, they just have to live with the fact that we can't come anymore." Troy said firmly. Gabriella sighed, bouncing the 1 month old softly, trying to get her to sleep. Grace Marie Bolton was going through a stage where she'd sleep all day, and then be awake all night. Even though it was only 4pm, she'd wake up at 7 most likely, then fall asleep for the rest of the night. It worked well.
All of a sudden, Grace started to cry. Gabriella tried getting her to stop, but it just wouldn't work.
"Here, I'll take her." Troy took Grace from Gabriella & held her close to his chest. Before Grace was born, Troy knew nothing about babies. Now, just a month later, he's quite good at it. Just with the diaper changes does he get a little scared. So he leaves that to Gabriella.
Grace immediately stopped crying once she was in Troy's arms. That had never happened.
"I guess I've been replaced!" Gabriella pouted a little. Ever since Grace was born, she had only actually liked Gabriella, and not so much Troy. "Don't you love me anymore baby?"
"She will love you again when she's hungry." Troy chuckled. Gabriella glared at him as if he was stupid. "What?"
"You just admitted she doesn't love me!" Gabriella whisper yelled.
"Of course she loves you." He looked down at his daughter & saw she was attempting to fall asleep. Her eyes were closed, and all you could hear was her heavy breathing. "Is she meant to be breathing that heavy?"
"I'm not sure.." Gabriella could hear the infants breathing from her spot which was a few metres away. The littlest things caught their attention, and it made them worried. "I'll ask my mom."
Gabriella made her way downstairs & into the kitchen where her mother was. Since they were young, Gabriella still lived with her mom & Troy had moved in after Grace was born.
"Mom, Grace is breathing real heavy & I don't know what's up." Gabriella sighed, standing infront of her mother.
"Does she have a high temperature?" Maria asked her daughter. Gabriella shrugged, meaning she didn't know if she did or not. "Alright. I'll go & check on her."
Maria went upstairs, Gabriella close behind & they went into Gabriella's room, where Troy was attempting to calm a now screaming Grace. Maria walked over & put her hand on the infants forehead. It was very warm, and the baby looked like she was sweating. All that happened in just a minute.
"She's very hot.." Maria scanned her granddaughter. "Take off her clothes & leave her in her diaper. If she doesn't cool down, I suggest we take her to the hospital."
Gabriella didn't want to take Grace to the hospital. She didn't want anything to be wrong with Grace. She just wanted Grace to be healthy & happy. Troy carefully laid Grace on the bed & took off her onesie, leaving her in her diaper. After 15 minutes, Grace hadn't calmed down.
"Maria, should we just take her? She's still so hot & she hasn't stopped crying.."
