Veterans Day and the Autobots

"That's quite odd why isn't Jack up yet?" Arcee mused to herself quietly as she sat in her alt mode motorcycle form in the Darby's garage. Checking her internal clock Arcee discovered that it was a little bit past eight o'clock; "Jack should be at school by now so why wasn't he up yet" Arcee mused to herself.

Arcee then used her comlink to contact both Bulkhead and Bumblebee; and asked them did they bring Miko and Raf to school yet. But just like Jack Miko and Raf weren't up yet either; what was going on here what was going on with their partners. That's what Arcee, Bulkhead and Bumblebee wanted to know and some way somehow they were going to find out.

After Jack, Miko and Raf got up and got dressed. Then after having a somewhat hearty breakfast. Jack, Miko and Raf then boarded their Autobot partners; and headed to the Autobots base. As the Autobots and humans entered the base Ratchet and Optimus Prime were discussing something in the command center. Optimus Prime and Ratchet got the shock of their lives; when they saw their human friends coming to the base so early in the morning. As Jack, Miko and Raf made their way up to the second level to sit on the couch; the three kids intended to play some video games for a while.

Optimus Prime then decided to break the silence by saying "Jack,Miko and Raf why are you not at your place of study today?" "Yes why not?" Ratchet echoed seconds later. Miko then laughed a little bit this only confused the Autobots even more. Jack just somewhat openly glared at Miko for a few seconds; before saying "The reason why we're here so early is because today is the being of the long weekend." "A long weekend whatever do you mean by that Jack ?" Arcee said now transformed as she walked over to Jack's side. All of the Autobots by now were perplexed in a state of confusion; "What did Jack mean by a long weekend." "

"There is no school today it's closed because today on November 11th it's something us humans call Veterans Day" Jack said. "Veterans Day what's that Jack?"Bulkhead asked; Bumblebee beeped and whirred because he was curious as well. That's when Raf took over and said "On Veterans Day since it's a public holiday all the schools and most businesses are closed. But today is the anniversary of the end of the First World War or otherwise known as World War 1. It's to honor US veterans and victims of all wars. It replaced Armistice Day in 1954." As Raf was explaining what Veterans Day was to Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Arcee, Bulkhead and Bumblebee; Smokescreen and Wheeljack came into the base and wondered what was going on.

So Raf then explained once again what Veterans Day was; so that Wheeljack and Smokescreen were caught up about what was going on at this moment in time. Ratchet, Optimus Prime, Arcee, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, Wheeljack and Smokescreen; were all amazed that the humans honored their dead as well as the ones who were still alive. All of the Autobots present in the room made the decision that once; this Great War was over that they would do the exact same thing. It struck a major chord with Optimus Prime though as he remembered all the lives that the humans have lost; fighting in World War 1 and the ones still alive have the horror of war still etched into their minds. He should know how that felt because he and his fellow Autobots; felt it everyday since the start of the Great War. Yes he and his fellow Autobots remembered their fallen comrades in arms; they were a bit of a ragtag one could call family.

Then whoever was still alive on the Autobots side was left to feel the effects of what just happened. That left most if not all of the Autobots within Optimus Prime's ranks with along of emotional and physical scars; on their spark as well as in their minds. The Decepticons enjoyed the art of manipulation and torment they had over their victims. "Optimus I know you and the other Autobots are not going to believe what I am going to say next" Jack said. "What is it Jack?" Optimus asked he didn't want to pressure the young man; into doing something he didn't want to do. Taking a deep breath Jack then let it out slowly and said "Long before anyone ever knew or seen a transform. We have been fighting a Great War of our own for a while now."

Optimus Prime and the other Autobots were now shocked as well as being slightly confused. Jack then ticked off on his fingers on all of the wars that the humans had been in. First in was the Vietnam War then it was the War in Afghanistan. Next it was the Moro Rebellion and then the Northwest Indiana War. Then it was the Iraq War next came the American Revolutionary War. Next it was the Second Seminole War and then the American Civil War.

Then World War 2 happened next came the Korean War. Then there was the War of 1812 next came the War on ISIL. Then the Mexican- American War happened then World War 1 came around and just happened. Next it was the Great Sioux War of 1876 and then we were involved in the Spanish- American War. Next we fought in the Persian Gulf War and then finally we fought in the Kosovo War.

All the other Autobots were now shocked beyond compare; they didn't know what to say or do.

Taking another deep breath Jack then said "As you and the others can see Optimus the ground isn't as clean as one might think. We have always have been fighting a Great War from day one and it still isn't over yet." After Jack's explanation Optimus Prime realized that Earth was not such a safe haven for anyone including Autobots as he first thought. Planet Earth was far more bloodier than Cybertron; they had a lot more casualties than Autobots and Decepticons combined. Yes there would always be differences and similarities between humans and cybertronians. But they would always be able to find common ground because of their similar experiences; because it didn't matter if you were from planet Earth or planet Cybertron you almost had an equal loss of life or maybe if it was even more.
