I thought it was a normal day of school but I was wrong. I was coming out of gym with my best friend. We were on our way to our lockers when I saw her. She was leaning against my locker with her back to me. But I could tell she was aware of me behind her.
"Hey. Can I help you with something?" I was trying to sound cooler but that wasn't possible.
"Elyk Moon. Night has chosen thee; thy death will be thy birth. Night calls to thee; hearken to Her sweet voice. Your destiny awaits you at the House of Night." She said as she turned around. That is when I saw the sapphire crescent moon on her forehead. She lifted a finger and touched the center of my forehead.
All I could do was cry out in pain. Unfortunately no one heard me because that is when the bell decided to ring. I was leaning against the wall with my face in a grimace. I opened my eyes and the only person in the hall was Taylor. She had long wavy blonde hair. She was my best girl friend.
"Taylor," I managed to whisper.
"Elyk? Why aren't you in class?" I looked up at her and she gasped. That's when I blacked out.
