Tiger Lily
Kabuto knows more than the average shinobi. He's been to the gates of hell and back again. From birth his life has been nothing but lies. He is the perfect killing machine; a shinobi with all of the strengths and none of the weaknesses—flawless skin and good looks; soft, silky hair. Yes, maybe he has a slight problem with astigmatism—but glasses only enhance the beauty of his coal-black eyes. Boundaries are only lines he hasn't stepped over yet.
Perhaps this is why Orochimaru sent this shining example of what a shinobi should be to retrieve his new body. Perhaps this is why Kabuto finds himself hating the one called Uchiha Sasuke more than anything in the world.
The Uchiha is beautiful. The Uchiha is powerful. One of a kind, wouldn't you say, Kabuto? Aren't those blood-red eyes wonderful, Kabuto? His eyes are usually a boring coal color—like yours, Kabuto—but when he activates the sharingan they're so unique!
Kabuto agrees whole-heartedly with his lord and feels himself die a little on the inside. It has always been this way, and for all Kabuto knows, it always will be. All Kabuto can do is hope that at the end of the day, Orochimaru may see it fit to throw a fake smile his way and congratulate him on his achievement. The very thought makes Kabuto sick. He finds himself wishing for something more than lies and fake praises.
Kabuto finds himself wishing he could live in Konoha. He had always loved trees. When Kabuto was younger, Orochimaru had taken him to a garden in the Fire country. Orochimaru had handed him an exotic-looking flower and smiled—Kabuto knew it was a fake smile, but he didn't care.
That same night Kabuto had set the town afire. In the midst of the chaos, Kabuto could remember the vacant looks of the dead around him; for the first time in his life, Kabuto had felt sad—the flames from the village had sent the garden into flames. Orochimaru had put a hand on his shoulder in mock sympathy and handed him another flower. Kabuto had taken the proffered tiger lily and smiled.
