George Weasley was scratching where his ear once had been at the same time as he peered down in his inventory book. He had never thought it would be so much paperwork to own a shop, or rather he and Fred had never thought about that aspect at all, they had been too busy fantasising about all the prank items they would create and sell.
He heard a sound beside him. He turned his head and came face to face with his twin brother Fred who was scratching at the same place, where he actually had a ear, with a mischievous smile on his lips.
"I can't still believe that you managed to loose an ear brother" he said, rolling his eyes.
"Not like I could stop it" George said and let his hand fall down.
Fred crashed down beside him and looked down at the book.
"So that's what you're doing here, you hardly ever come here anymore"
"Yea, I know. It's harder than I thought to transform Zonko's to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes."
Fred nodded and leaned back against the wall.
"Oh, I have something to tell you" George continued suddenly after they had been silent for a couple of minutes.
"Yea?" Fred looked back at his brother with curious eyes.
"Yesterday Freddie came and visit at the shop"
"Was it Hogsmeade weekend or did he sneak out" Fred interrupted.
"Weekend actually, first of the year, he came with both of the Potter boys."
"Right" Fred nodded "Albus is old enough now"
"And interestingly enough the Malfoy kid"
"What?" Fred's eyes bugged out "Are they friends?"
"It seems like it" George felt very pleased that he knew something Fred didn't.
Fred looked like he realised something and started to laugh hysterically.
"George, isn't Albus best friend with Rose?" he giggled.
"Yes Fred, you are absolutely correct"
"I wish I could be there when you tell Ronniekin"
George nodded "I wish so too"
He really looked forward to tell his little brother about this new development. Ron would be furious that his little girl was friends with a Malfoy. But George knew he had to finish this first before he could do anything else so he went back to his book. It always took longer to do the inventory here in Diagon Alley because of his brother who always disturbed him. It seems as they have to create some new Daydream charms, only one crate left. Not surprisingly though, it was their number one seller. Fred sighed beside him.
"You are so boring" Fred grunted.
"It's called growing up" George glared at his brother.
"Yeah, well, I don't know anything about that."
George closed his eyes and swallowed. "Not funny, Fred"
"I'm Sorry"
George opened his eyes and stared at his twin brother and best friend. The boy who died almost 20 years ago.
"Will it ever stop hurting, Fred?" He asked but he already knew the answer.
"No, George, it won't. But that's why I'm still here. As long as you need me."
