Prologue
A/N: Here's a short peak of what's to come. :D
Kagome sighed as she closed yet another vampire book about blood, stakes, and garlic. What was it with these people and thinking that vampires were vulnerable to such petty things such as garlic and holy water? And the cross idea, how did that work out?
She shook her head in frustration. And they called themselves writers. They didn't even get the research done right. Wait, scratch that. They didn't even research.
'Maybe they should interview them…' Kagome thought idly, and then laughed at the ridiculous idea.
Interviewing a vampire… How disastrous that'd end. Such myths and legends about them were sure to get people riled up.
Erasing the topic of vampires from her head, Kagome finished her cappuccino and sighed as she looked out the window to see the snow fall once more.
'Winter… such a romantic time of the year. And I've no one to spend it with.'
Feeling pretty sorry for herself, Kagome glanced at her watch to feel her spirits drop even lower. She needed to go to her job.
She gathered her things and readied herself to leave the coffee shop, half wondering why she'd come to a coffee shop when she worked at one, when she was stopped by a young woman.
"Hi, sorry to bother you, but you seemed to be interested in vampires."
Kagome glanced down to see the book in her hands and smiled.
"Yes. I am rather… interested… in them. Why?"
"Well, you seemed so… disapproving of that book, and I read it and thought it wonderfully written. Why did you not like it?"
She settled back down into her seat to remain comfortable, seeing as how the little conversation was becoming a bit more than 'little'. Kagome gestured to the other side of the booth, and the woman smiled and sat down.
"I don't mind the question or answering it. But why are you asking?"
The said woman blushed and cleared her throat.
"I'm taking a special class about myths and legends. And vampires, not to sound boastful or anything, is a topic that I excelled in. I just want to know why you didn't like it. A different opinion."
Kagome gave a slight smile. "I didn't like it because it… doesn't have something very important in it."
The woman shook her head, not recalling anything missing from the book. "What is it missing?"
"It is missing…"
Time seemed to tick by very slowly, as the woman awaited Kagome's full answer.
"… love."
Kagome was given a confused face in reply to her answer.
"Love?"
"Yes. Vampires… and their quest for love," she answered.
"But vampires can't feel love…"
At the woman's comment, her blue eyes darkened. Her heart clenched briefly and her eyes took on a faraway look.
"Yes… for right now…" she whispered.
"Excuse me?" asked the woman.
Tired of their little questions and answers, Kagome stood up and bowed politely.
"I must get going now. I hope you'll take what I have said into consideration of your… knowledge of vampires."
The woman bowed politely back and Kagome walked out of the coffee shop with a somewhat confident air.
She breathed in the crisp outside air as she renewed her promise to herself once again.
"Yes… for right now, I might not able to feel it… But, I will find him. I will kill him. And I will find love."
