Kiba ran towards his team spiritedly, Akamaru behind him, barking.
"Sorry we're late!" He called, "We ran into-"
Stopping short, he wrinkled his nose and gave his team mates disgusted looks.
"What is that smell?" He growled, covering his nose with his hands.
Shino shook his head, saying no.
Hinata looked at him with wide eyes.
There was no way he could…but what if?
"Seriously guys, lets go to a different training ground, it smells awful here!" He yelled, turning around.
Shino shrugged and walked after him, but Hinata stayed where she was. The two boys both stared at her, confused.
"Come on Hinata, let's go train!"
"Yes." Shino murmured.
"K...Kiba-kun..." Hinata stuttered her face beet red and her fingers curling around each other. "I don't think it will m…matter if we go to a different…"
"Whatcha mean, Hinata?" Kiba yapped, tilting his head in that way dogs do when they're confused.
"I'm…I…that smell is…" Hinata dropped her head, too embarrassed to finish and face bright red.
Shino raised his eyebrows, understanding. His father had talked to him about it, to watch out for girls when this happened.
Kiba, oblivious, despite hanging around his mother and having an older sister, began to bark with Akamaru.
"Hey, what do ya mean? You know what that smell is, huh?" He looked from Shino to Hinata, aware that the bug man had figured out what he hadn't. "What is it?"
Shino smirked, unseen behind his tall collar. Hinata's face grew redder and she became very interested in her sandals.
"Hinata is having her period." Shino finally said.
Kiba looked momentarily confused, and then realization dawned on him. His face grew red and he murmured a small 'oh.' Then, he said he heard his mom calling and hurried away.
Hinata just stood in shame and Shino's bugs laughed under his skin. Actually, the Aburame was very fascinated by this…that the dog boy's sense of smell could detect Hinata's monthly passing.
Finally, he left too; assuming training had been cancelled for the day.
When both boys had gone, Hinata raised her head, face still red. A look of pure anger was on her face.
"I hate them! That was so embarrassing!" She squeaked. Then, she too stomped away.
Neji, who had been sitting in a nearby treetop, had watched it all in shock.
"That's serious PMSing right there." He said.
