My Family

My family is pretty great. Everybody thinks their family is great but mine really is. My mommy is a singer and actually she's pretty famous, sometimes we see her on TV or in magazines, but the best part is that she sings for me and Mama and my little sister Ella all the time at home, too, and we don't have to buy tickets even! The only bad thing about having a mom who's a famous music star is when she has to go on tour, that means when she writes a bunch of new songs she has to go all around the world and sing them for everybody in concerts so they can all hear and buy the album. When Mommy is on tour, me and Mama and Ella are all sad. When I was a baby, Mama and I went on tour with Mommy, but we can't do that now because I have to go to school. I don't remember that, but I know I was there because there are lots of pictures. Even one picture is my special favorite, it was on the cover of Rolling Stone, which is a pretty famous magazine, and it's of me and Mommy and Mama when I was just born. That was when Mommy was just getting famous. My grandpa was a famous singer too, just like Mommy, but I never met him because he died before I was born.
My mama has a special job too, even though she isn't famous, and that is being a doctor. She's not a regular doctor for when you're sick, instead she's a kind of doctor you talk to when you're sad. Sometimes she works together with my Auntie Chelsea, who is an artist. Mama says that sometimes when people are very sad, like if someone dies, you might be too sad to talk about it, but you can draw or make some kind of art that makes you feel better, like if you really miss somebody but you can't talk to them. Auntie Chelsea helps people feel better with art, and Mama helps people feel better by talking. I also have a sister named Ella, but she doesn't do anything because she's just a baby. I think when I grow up I would like to help people like Mama and Auntie Chelsea. Maybe I will be a singer like Mommy and Grandpa, but I think I would be too scared to sing in front of lots and lots of people. Maybe I will be a basketball player like my cousin Clay. He is in hi school. He is the best player on the whole team. Sometimes I go watch his games, and everybody always cheers the most when he makes a basket. Our Uncle Glen is his coach, and you might think that would be a good thing, but actually Clay says Uncle Glen is hardest on him out of everybody! I think that's because, well maybe Uncle Glen doesn't want anyone to think he's playing favorites, because that wouldn't be fair. I hope I can be on the basketball team when I am in hi school. I don't care if Uncle Glen is hard on me. I also have another Auntie named Kyla, and she has a pretty great job too, she's a riter. She rites books that lots of people like to read, but I haven't read any of them yet because we don't learn about chapter books until next year. Well that's everybody in my family, and if you ask me they are the best family in the whole world, especially Mommy and Mama, because they always take care of me and make my grilled cheese sandwiches with two kinds of cheese just how I like, and they are really good at scaring away all the monsters under my bed. Some kids say you can't have two mommies, but I think they're just jealous.
