Sam awoke in the middle of the night to find none other than Danny Phantom floating outside her window. She gestured him in and he phased through the window. Sam noticed the pained and depressed look on his face as he sat down beside her and changed back to his human side.

"Hey Sam. Sorry for waking you."

"Don't mention it Danny. What's bothering you tonight?"

"Well, a lot of things actually."

"Such as?"

"Remember the fight we had with Technus earlier? "

Sam nodded in remembrance. The little shit escaped the Fenton Thermos by hacking into it, and proceeded to attack an electronic store. It took the trio 20 minutes to take him down. Danny didn't need as much sleep as humans, so he just flew off to who-knows-where while Tucker and Sam went back to bed.

"Well, I decided to go to the park and think about things for a while."

"What did you think about, exactly?"

"Before or after my parents tried to kill me again?"

Sam gasped in shock, and Danny raised his shirt up to show a long winding scar wrapping around his torso. Sam was like a mother to Danny, and though he can take a lot of hits, she always worried for his safety.

"Oh my gosh Danny! Are you OK?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Back to what I was thinking about, I realized a couple of…. things about myself."

Sam noticed his voice get raspy while he said that.

"What Danny? What did you realize?"

She noticed he was on the verge of tears, and pulled him into an embrace. Sobs racked the young halfa's frame as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. Sam patted him on the back and rubbed circles around his body to ease the silent cries as he let it all out.

"I'm sorry *sniff * its just… its scares me!"

"What scares you?"

"My powers! It's so hard to *sniff *control myself when I'm in school and getting bullied by Dash! Whenever I see him attack someone, I wish I could help, but I'm supposed to be the wimp! The nerd! It pains me inside so much that I have to hold back, yet scares me at the same time!"

"Danny, its ok! Your powers give you potential! When the time is right and you reveal your secret, you won't have to hold back! You won't have to be the wimpy nerd! You can be yourself! Danny Phantom!"

"But what if I *sniff *kill someone? Sam, my powers effect my *sniff * emotions more than I can comprehend! My *sniff * stupid hero complex always gets in the way of my *sniff * self control, and its only a *sniff * matter of time before it overpowers the other! If I didn't hold back, who *sniff * knows what would happen to Dash? I don't want to *sniff * murder him, but I so easily can! It scares me!"

A new wave of tears struck the teen, and Sam tightened her grip on him.

"What if I… become him?"

"Danny, listen to yourself! You will never go down that road, even Clockwork said so himself! Your powers make you incredibly powerful, but your secret makes you vulnerable. I think it's time that you told people who you truly are!"

"But Sam, what if they *sniff * don't accept me?"

"They will, Danny, just give them time to come to terms with it."

"Thanks Sam. Thanks for everything!"

She hugged him tighter, and then realized what she can do. Sam lifted Danny's head up and kissed him deeply. A wave of surprise and shock ran through Danny, but he kissed back. They fell back onto the bed and let go of each other.

"Sam, what was that?"

"That was you getting saved from that pit of despair your in right now."

"Thanks for that, Sam."

"You're staying here tonight. No questions asked. Got it?"

He chuckled, and lay down beside her as they drifted off into a happy sleep.
