How to be a Better Doctor

By Dr. Alice Theodore Lester

As you may know, one of the most important things required to be a good doctor is a good reputation. As long as you have a good reputation, clients and practice will follow. A good reputation will allow you to command your nurses and have quick results. When you have a good reputation, all the best hospitals will clamor to have you with them, and will offer you lucrative opportunities you will never have otherwise. It doesn't matter who you are, or whether you can make a patient feel better, anyone can be a successful doctor with a good reputation.

"How does one obtain such a great reputation? " you may ask. It's very simple. Make your fellow doctors and nurses have a high opinion of you by impressing them in surgery. When performing a complex procedure on a patient with, say, a deadly parasite, allow said parasite or ailment continue to cause problems with the patient. This may seem counter intuitive, but it is worth doing. Amaze your fellow doctors with your skill at fixing symptoms and impress them with your suturing skills. Keep them focused on the way you can extract tumors, even when what is causing the tumors has not yet been dealt with. The more impressive the disease, the longer you should put up a show. The strain of GUILT called Savato is especially good for this, as in the final stage of treatment, it produces many lacerations for you to suture. Every laceration sutured will impress your colleagues so much more. You don't need to worry about using too much stabilizer, your fellow doctors with think you legitimately need it to keep the patient alive. Don't concern yourself too much with the patient's condition other than their vitals, they're under anesthesia. Keeping the patient in operation is a great way to improve your reputation.

The best way for doctors with the skill "Healing Touch " have a really easy way to improve their reputation. They simply need to not use it. This impresses other doctors by displaying self control and confidence. They will certainly think you are entirely in control of the situation if you refrain from and do not resort to using the Healing Touch. Healing Touch is best left unused.

You have no need to care about your patients. Caring leads to emotion, which leads to mistakes. You do not need empathy, you just need to operate. Your care for your patients may be the only thing holding you back from success.

If you keep these simple rules, you will easily be a good doctor; Milk the patient's condition for the sake of your reputation, don't care about your patients, and if you have Healing Touch, do not use it. These simple rules will certainly be useful in guiding you along the path from being viewed as a Master Surgeon to a true Medical Prodigy.
