Hermione looked out her window at the street below suspiciously. She knew that the Death Eaters were out there somewhere she just didn't know where. She had received a letter from Mrs. Weasley telling her to be careful and to contact her if anything odd were to happen.
So there Hermione stood at her window looking at the quiet street. A few cars went by the house. The wind gently blew the swings in the park across from her house. Children chased each other down the street. But Hermione could not see the joy or piece in the warm summer day.
She only saw a world that was not prepared for what was bound to happen. A world oblivious to the horrors that were happening just below their noses. She wished she could run out there and tell the children to go home and hide. She wished she could stop the cars and direct them to safety. But the law did not allow it. She could not tell them that a terrorist was on the loose. That this man, if one can call him that, could do things. Things they only ever saw in fairytales and in movies. That this…this thing could do magic. It could torture and kill them with a flick of its wand. She wished she could tell them that it had followers that would love to kill them all simply because they didn't have magic. But Hermione knew she couldn't. She knew that telling the muggle world about magic would be detrimental. But she still hated it.
She turned away as she heard someone knock on her door. She didn't want to worry her parents so she plastered a smile on her face as her mother opened the door. "Hermione dear your father and I are going out now for a meeting. Will you be alright on your own?" Mrs. Granger asked. Hermione smiled softly. "Of course mum. Enjoy yourselves." She said. Her mother smiled before leaving. Hermione looked back out the window and sighed as her parents drove away. Even they were unaware to the true horror that lay in store for the world.
(I know it's short but let me know what you think. Thanks! I do not own Harry Potter no matter how many memory charms I use. It belongs to JK Rowling.)
