Wow, haven't uploaded anything here in how long? Geez, so much for that whole 'new story every week' thing. Oh well. Focusing more on tumblr now anyways. Feel free to check out my blog sayonarahalcyondays. Thinking of joining archive of our own, not sure yet. Anyway, traditional disclaimer and all that. If you have any qualms about a giant kangaroobunny and a dead icicle boy dating . . . why the hell are you here?

When one spends as much time with an individual as Jack did with Aster, it was only natural when he began picking up on some of the others more subtle traits. Seeing as how Bunny was . . . indeed a rabbit, it was stranger still that the younger Guardian never pondered over some of the more seemingly bizarre things about his partner. He could've questioned the male's accent or the foreign markings that patterned his impossibly thick fur. But no, it was always the smaller things that grabbed the winter sprite's attention.

As of late, the thing that seemed to hold Jack's interest was the way the older Guardian's body twitched. Sure, the boy had always noticed how Bunny's ears would perk up at the slightest sounds and how they laid flat against his head as he relaxed taking a break from work; he'd even spotted how the other would often raise a foot not even an inch off of the ground before lowering it again. Such insignificant little movements the Easter sprite didn't even register, Jack took a simple joy in watching.

Even now as the Pooka was hunched over detailing one of his eggs, Jack couldn't help but notice how his back and chest jumped ever so slightly with each soft intake of breath. It was almost cute. A smile played on the boy's lips suddenly at the thought of using the word cute to describe Bunnymund. Planting a hand into the lush grass beneath him, Jack lifted his staff and quickly hoisted himself up onto his feet. Of course he could never let other know he thought of him as cute. The boy let out a quiet laugh. No, that was a thought best kept to himself.

"Oy, bloody hell are you lookin' at Frost?" The Pooka's slightly irritated voice snapped Jack back into reality and away from his thoughts. His brow arched in confusion, Aster sat the now completed egg down and urged it on its way. Standing to his full height, the Guardian slowly strode over to where Jack stood. Clear blue eyes meet green momentarily before shifting down to catch wire thin whiskers lightly move. A sly smirk crept its way across the winter sprite's features, just barely holding in the laugh threating to slip pass his lips. Reaching a slender finger upwards, the silver haired boy gently tapped his partner on the nose, earning himself a slight flinch and another twitch of Bunny's nose.

"Nothing at all, Cottontail."
