So just a little something that popped up and I wanted to put down in words.

Just a crossover one shot. It's October, Halloween is coming, and I've been reading to many Buffy the Vampire Slayer Halloween fics.

Don't own Jack... Or Xander either.

Alexander Harris, mostly known as Xander, pulled into the cemetery slowly. He'd had plenty of experience with grave yards in his life thanks to Sunnydale and it's activeHellmouth. This wasn't business related though.

Squinting his one good eye in the bright daylight he found a spot to park. It was a short walk to the grave site. On the same day, every year, since that fateful Halloween he'd told himself he'd visit this place.

This year he'd actually managed to visit.

Call it fate, destiny, or dumb luck, but he wasn't the only one to visit that particular grave today.

Kneeling before the grave marker was a gray haired man in dress blues placing a small flag at the base.

'Major Charles Kawalsky

Friend

Brother

Soldier

He remains in our memories and our hearts.

A Hero'

The man was speaking to the grave and was familiar if older than he'd been when he was last seen.

"Well, the kids got home from the hospital last week. Never thought it'd happen, but I still have some life in me yet. Names were a little hard to agree on, but then I still hear her calling me 'Sir' every so often too." The man smiled sadly and continued.

"She insisted on Charlie for our daughter. You know what? Just throwing out a name I had to pick Selmak... Our son is gonna hate me because that's what the nurse wrote down with out me looking. I just thought I'd visit early this year. So much to do and all. I'll be here on time next year."

Jack O'neill stood and smartly saluted the grave in respect to a good man gone.

Turning he found himself face to face with Mr. Harris.

"He respected you, sir. You did the right thing ordering the gate to shut down."

Smiling and at peace with himself Xander saluted the grave.

Turning to leave he took a moment and smiled at the startled expression on the Brigadier General's face.

"Made you a General, eh Jack? Better you than me." For a moment Jack could see an image of Charles Kawalsky overlay the young man.

"Kawalsky?" Whispered Jack in question.

"Not quite, want to get a beer? I'll explain as best I can, and you can explain who 'Selmak' is." Xander Harris led Jack to his parked car. After an explanation that defied belief, a night on the town, and a two potentially massive hangovers they parted ways.

The next day while still recovering his wife asked why he was smiling as if he'd talked Thor into beaming two tons of jello into the white house...again.

Instead of explaining he had this to say.

"Sam, you would not believe me if I told you. Instead I'll bring a friend over next week. He and his wife Faith will be in town and he can explain it all."

Non-plussed by her husband's non answer Samantha O'neill nee Carter went back to reading her recently published physics book to her new born children

The end.
