Hanschen breath caught in his throat when he spotted the boy. He was lying down under a tree, their tree, the one they had shared that passionate kiss under almost three weeks ago. Just thinking about it sent a shiver up his spine.

Although he felt strong feelings for the boy, he had not returned as he'd promised. He would never admit to it, but he was scared, and of little Ernst of all people! Not that he found him physically frightening, it was just that when he'd looked into those innocent eyes and heard him say those four words with such a truth behind them " I love you Hanschen." It had almost torn his composure to shreds. Thankfully he'd been able to maintain it with a "as you should" but the experience had shaken him.

He'd avoided Ernst since that day, acting as though nothing had changed, when it had, everything had changed. He yearned for the boy.

Now every day as he walked home from school, he looked to the spot where it had all happened, and every day there Ernst would be, waiting.

Seeing him there in a sleeping state of bliss, Hanschen could contain it no longer he had to get closer. Creeping quietly he approached Ernst until he was at his side. Then he lied down beside the beautiful boy, cursing the leaves for their sound of disturbance. He lay there for what seemed like hours staring, memorizing every feature of the one he had grown to care for's face, and tracing his delicate features.

A gust of wind blew overhead making Ernst stir. His eyelids fluttered slowly open. When he sees Hanschen staring at him a smile crept across the smaller boys face. "I knew you'd come." He said, and before Hanschen had the opportunity to say anything else, Ernst closed the small gap between them claiming Hanschen's lips with his own.
