Memories come and go, but some just stays forever in a human's mind.
"You again."
"I take that I'm not welcome here." Her voice sounds cheery as always.
"Yes. Now get out."
"Aww...but I'm here to help you!"
"I'm not a spy. You can't treat me like one."
"Your welcome. Now shut up and let me get to work."
Shikamaru hesitates for a moment before letting the blonde takes her place. He watches her touching a part of his brain that has not yet explored.
"Soon you'll remember everything..." She closes her eyes and concentrates. "But I think it's going to be easy this time."
She smiles widely.
Shikamaru opens his eyes and looks at his surrounding. A white ceiling. White walls. White curtains. White bedding. A strong scent of antiseptic.
Where am I?
"Shikamaru?"
He turns his head slowly to the voice. "Sakura..."
Her green eyes widen. "You remember?"
"What? What are you-"
"You remember!" She jumps and runs out of the room before he could finish his word. "Shishou! Shikamaru remembers!"
What the hell is going on here? Shikamaru looks around the room in confusion.
A sound of quick strides echoes in hall and the Fifth Hokage marches in. "You remember? Good."
"What happened?" Shikamaru asks.
"You have amnesia. A result from your head injury in your last mission." Sakura reappears shortly after Tsunade, filling him in. "Has been for quite a while. You didn't remember anything. But then Ino went inside your mind to try to bring your memories back and looks like the last time she was in she was successful."
"Ino…" He mutters. Then he remembers.
The series of events where she was inside his head flickers like a live movie in front of his eyes. How she worked hard on each visit to search for the key to break his amnesia. The last time she was in…
She was successful.
She had found the key.
Shikamaru closes his eyes and sees her wide smile. He sighs.
She knows.
"Because I'm always in here all along."
