As far as Nailah knew, jealousy, was a feeling alien to the Herons.
Well, she had not knew many of them very well, but at least, Rafiel had never shown any likewise sign. Neither here nor when they had traveled to Tellius.
She had taken her time with that Hawk King, teasing him in many ways, and she could bet that the Beorcs in their ranks always read their exchanges withdouble meanings.
They were enough beorc in Hatari for her to have learnt that despite time and will, some notions escaped them when it came to Laguz. Yet most that she met on Tellius sounded peculiarly ignorant ; when they tried to understand, they automatically interpreted whatever they read about Laguz as animals instincts. That, she didn't understand. Because Laguz in their turn, saw no reason to compare Beorc's instincts to those of monkeys despite of the similarity of their ears.
Some gazes fell on her in her human form, as she felt auras of different intensity drape over hers appraising, until they all renounced, Laguz in understanding, Beorcs with intimidation or shyness, some stares were intentional, others instinctive.
But whether the males talked about it or not behind her back, she never had read anything from Rafiel in response.
The Heron Clan has been endowed with the ability to read auras and general thoughts patterns finely. Some Beorc called it empathy, other telepathy.
Nailah knew that her advisor and Consort was skilled enough to be able to use his senses without any notice.
At the beginning, whenever she would told him to leave her thoughts alone, she remembered how his eyes slowly left her, close and his touch shifted slightly...
Laguz had more control over their instincts than Beorcs. Most Beorcs feared them and fought against them. Laguz embraced their instincts without restraint, until they knew them as well as they knew their beastly shapes, they coerced them into what best fitted their designs. She would have been a fool to think it any different for the Herons. Rafiel seemed to head a complex tree of priorities that defined his behavior, because...she had never seen him ruffle a feather under others males gazes.
Looking back now, she didn't know whether it was because he read her more easily than she knew, or whether Herons would react more strongly to their own kin's signals.
In fact, the night after Lehran left Hatari to return to Begnion confirmed many points of her theory.
After all had been done, she was grateful for the softness of the seats of her palace.

A/N: Pure crack mostly. I was trying to write a piece for ever galdr used in the game, but I didn't find anything serious to write for the Galdr Of Vigor...
