Today was one of her silent days, it seemed, and without uttering a word either he sat on the couch. She was staring outside again, her head tilted so it was supported by the window pane and he couldn't help but wonder what was so fascinating that it caught her full attention.
"It's spring." The words came out in a breathy whisper and spread themselves on the glass, fogging it up before retracting to the center and disappeared.
"It's spring, Dino!"
He looked at her, then at the window so he could see the scenery with a sad glance. For a split second, his eyes failed him and she vanished, her white hospital gown merging with the blanket of snow outside, but she came back after he blinked, this time facing him.
The man stood up, placing both his palms on his knees to balance himself, then gently took her dainty hand in his once he was in range.
"Let's go play outside, then."
"Let's go, Cira!"

The words in italics are brief flashbacks from Dino. It shows how hard he tries to keep living in the past with her. Or maybe I'm over-interpreting my own story =_="
