Rose wandered the silent TARDIS halls, unable to sleep. It was a rare occurrence when she was awake and the Doctor asleep; she had poked her head into his room not a few minutes before to find him snoozing at his desk, head rested on his arms.

She opened a door at random to find the library, and she perked up at the idea of cuddling up with a good book. She found the last Harry Potter book and settled down to read, shivering as the cold leather of the squishy couch she sat on went straight through her thin nightie. Scanning the room for a better chair, Rose's gaze fell upon the Doctor's long brown coat, hung carelessly across a hardback chair. She darted over and pulled it on, feeling slightly like she was playing dress-up, what with the way the sleeves were too long and the bottom of the coat brushed the floor. Rose did up the coat and made herself comfy back on the couch, tucking her feet into the coat as well, and settled to read her book.

The Doctor's watch alarm woke him; it was right next to his ear and he started awake. He groaned, rolling his stiff shoulders. That'll be the last time he falls asleep at his desk. The Doctor jumped on the spot for a minute, getting energized for the day. He jogged down the hall and knocked on Rose's door, opening it after a beat.

"Come on, sleepy head, time for..." the Doctor trailed off, his head cocked to the side in confusion. Rose's bedspread lay shifted off to one side, and her bed was empty. The Doctor left Rose's room, puzzling as to where she could be at the early hour. He chuckled. Rose Tyler was many things, but an early riser was not one of them.

He started opening doors down the hall, checking quickly inside each room. The wardrobe, nope. The pool; yeah, right, he thought to himself. The library, nope - oh, wait. A blonde head was just visible over the top of the black leather couch, and the Doctor grinned. He entered the room, bounding over to Rose, about to ask what she was doing here so early when he realised.

Rose was fast asleep, her thumb notched inside the last Harry Potter book in her lap. The Doctor smiled, and sat across from her. It was obvious she'd fallen asleep reading; she was still somewhat upright and her head was drooped down, resting half on her shoulder and half on the side of the couch. She was curled up inside his coat; he couldn't even see her feet, it was so big on her. The back of his neck tingled at Rose wearing his coat, and he wondered what could have possibly prompted her to put it on. He became lost in thought, gazing at her peaceful sleeping form, only startling out of his reverie when she woke up.

Rose drifted awake, blinking blearily as she remembered where she was. Her hand went to her aching neck, rubbing the tense muscles. She glanced at her page number - 106 - and closed the book, placing it on the table in front of her. It was only then she noticed the Doctor, sitting there silently with a grin on his face.

"Oh, Doctor you gave me a fright," she told him, and smiled. "Hello."

"Hello!" he greeted her, still with that silly wide grin on his face, like he had an inside joke she wasn't aware of.

Rose suddenly realised it. She glanced down; she was still wearing his jacket. She blushed pink, jumped to her feet and started to unbutton it.

"Oh, ah, sorry I just grabbed it last night... I was cold," she explained hurriedly, and then realised all she had on underneath was her nightie. Rose felt her ears turn red, and she paused, not sure what to do. She shot the Doctor a look, who was chuckling at her obvious embarrassment. "Oh shut up," she told him, smiling reluctantly. She started heading towards the door. "I'm just gonna go... ah... change."

The Doctor broke out into peals of laughter.

"Yep, okay, you do that." He nodded, and the blushing Rose scurried out of the library, feeling the Doctor's gaze on her back the whole time.
