Ron, Harry and Hermione were chatting amongst themselves at breakfast in the great hall. Ron and Harry started chattering away about Quidditch when Hermione glanced up to see someone approaching. She groaned and the two boys looked up as well. A pretty tall blonde made her way over to the table and sat down in the empty space beside Hermione.

"Morning" greeted the girl with a yawn and a friendly smile.

"Hello Isabelle" Harry greeted her with a small smile.

Ron looked up at Isabelle, the new transfer from Beaubatons and smiled, his cheeks getting warmer. "Hey" he said, finally managing to find his voice.

Hermione rolled her eyes. She didn't understand why Ron seemed to turn to jelly every time Isabelle was around. "Honestly" she muttered under her breath, glancing at Harry.

Throughout breakfast, Harry and Hermione chatted while Ron added in a few 'yeah's and 'that's right's as he snuck glances at Isabelle. Finally Isabelle excused herself from the table. He watched as she walked away and headed over to the Slytherin table to see Draco.

"I don't see why she talks to that git" Ron said heatedly, still trying to pretend he didn't care, but failing miserably.

"She's probably up to something, that's why" Hermione said, shooting a glare towards Isabelle and Draco.

Harry stayed silent, although he had to agree; he didn't know why she would want to spend as much time with Malfoy as she did.

"She's not up to something!" Ron said in her defense. "She's probably got a good explanation for it. Maybe she's tutoring him" Ron suggested.

"In what? Potions?" Hermione snapped. "We both know Draco's not failing that class" Hermione said dryly.

"Okay, so she's not tutoring him. There could be an explanation though" Ron said stubbornly.

"What do you think Harry?" Hermione questioned.

Harry shook his head and laughed. "Oh no, I'm not getting dragged into one of your fights again" he told him.

Hermione huffed. "Well, I need to go to the library before class. Got to see if there are any new books on house elves in" she told them before she turned on her heal and headed off.

Draco got up from the Slytherin table when he saw Isabelle approaching. Pansy Parkinson shot Isabelle a glare as she approached. Her and Draco left the table and headed out of the hall.

"What's her problem?" Isabelle asked, referring to Pansy.

Draco rolled his eyes at the mention of Pansy "She thinks you and I are together"

"Ah, the dreaded case of the ex" Isabelle said with a laugh.

Draco became more serious. "I saw you talking to Potter and his friends" He told her flatly.

"So what? I'm not allowed to talk to people in my own house?" Isabelle asked. Rolling her eyes, she sighed. "Draco, I'm not going through this again. They're in my house and most of my classes. Of course I'm going to talk to them" she told him.

There was a moment of silence before she continued. "I don't see why you hate them so much. They're not that bad" she told him.

"Not that bad?" He stared at her in disbelief. "Oh please. Golden boy gets away with everything. He can do whatever he wants and Dumbledore just turns the other cheek just because of what happened with you-know-who. I'm so sick of hearing Potter this and Potter that. They all act as if he's some kind of hero" Draco spat out bitterly. 'And don't even get me started in Weasley" he added.

"Sorry to bring it up" Isabelle said when he started going off about Harry. Then he commented about Ron. "Hey, there's nothing wrong with Ron" She said, a little bit too defensively.

Draco raised his eyebrow in suspicion. "You can be so naïve about people sometimes, Isabelle" He muttered.

"I am not naïve!" She protested. "Let's just talk about something else, okay?" she suggested as they continued to proceed down the corridor.
