"I still don't know why we have to be involved," Loghain growled. "Are the Grey Wardens not supposed to keep themselves out of political situations?"

He huffed out a breath, eying the small elf as she finished pinning up her long hair. She paused, looking at him from the reflection in the mirror she sat in front of.

"Because, like it or not, the Grey Wardens do hold some sway in the politics of Thedas." Her lips curled into a smile then. "And your daughter asked us specifically."

Tabris finished pinning up her hair and opened a drawer on the vanity. She slid out a necklace, grazing her thumb over the small pendant. She let out a sigh, shifting to pull it around her neck when Loghain's hand covered her's. She turned her head to look up at him, brows raised.

"Allow me," he murmured. Loghain swallowed and forced a half smile, charming in its own right.

She uncurled her fingers from the necklace, turning back to the mirror to watch as he looped it over her neck. He brushed away a few loose strands of hair that had escaped her updo, fastening the necklace with care.

"It's very lovely," he said, voice quiet.

She flushed slightly, smiling as she touched the pendant again. "It was a gift from my mother."

"She had good taste," he replied. He cleared his throat, stepping back and holding out a hand. "Shall we be off?"
