Prologue:
Silence echoed out over the graveyard, not a leaf stirred. The graves hidden by fog, a crow breaks the silence with a single caw and then falls silent once more. This sacred place was mysterious; very few had ever seen it and fewer still brave enough to tell others about what they saw. For deep within this graveyard was a large memorial chamber in which a terrible Beast slept. With armour like skin and sword like teeth this creature could strike fear into even the bravest of hearts. Everypony avoided this graveyard. The ponies buried here were from a time long past, when nopony ruled over Equestria. A time of darkness and fear. The Beast which resided within the chamber was all that remained of that time, it remained as a reminder of what Equestria used to be and, if not ruled properly, could be again. The Beast slept during the day and stalked the forest at night. Trembling and sobbing, the Beast's latest victim cowered in the corner. The small Cyan Pegasus Pony tried to hide her tears but was failing miserably. She knew she had to get out of here before nightfall. If she didn't the Beast would wake and, she cowered at the thought, make a quick meal of her. Many Ponies had already fallen victim to the Beast, their bones littered the chamber floor and their skulls hung on the wall as if they were trophies. The Cyan Pony squeaked in fright when the Beast let out a grunt. 'N-No I won't die here' she thought to herself. 'I am Rainbow Dash, I'm not afraid of anything!' Though telling herself that was easier than believing it. The fading sunlight shone in from a gap in one of the walls. The Beast had positioned himself perfectly, no matter what time of day it was the sun would be shining on him, that way his victims could always see him. Rainbow Dash shifted slightly allowing her to see past the Beast. The door stood out against the golden wall, its ornate carvings shimmering in the light, the only way of escape. Climbing shakily to her feet Rainbow Dash headed towards the door, keeping close to the wall. 'Not far now' BANG! Rainbow Dash froze in fear, the skull she had knocked from the wall had hit the floor hard, glancing over at the Beast her eyes filled with tears of fear as the frightening Beast got to his feet angrily.
