Percy's First Birthday

10:47 P.M.

'A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light, whose love shows us the way' -Unknown

Coos and low giggles filled the dark night as a soft, strange breeze crowded the room as a handsome man appeared in front of the dark-brown colored cradle. His exotic sea-green eyes surveyed around the tiny, tropical sea-themed nursery that was lit up by a soft, soothing glow of his trident. Approaching the cradle slowly, he saw a little girl, placing his trident on the wall nearby, he picks up the fragile-looking child.

She was tiny even for her age, she fit in his one hand and she was a year old, it scared him deeply.

"Hello, my little Sea Rose." The man whispers with a soft, crooked smile showing the sun-crinkles around his eyes as his brooding features soften.

Raising a large, dark-bronze tan hand that was scared and calloused against her soft, un-scared yet almost the same colored skin. The baby let out a low, charming giggle which lit up the man's face at the sound. He looked into his daughter's eyes to see that there the same exact color as his own, they were soulful, kaleidoscopic sea-green ocean color and they were wide, almost too big for her.

"I'm your Father," The tall man told the babbling toddler. A lopsided, almost gummy grin on her little pouty lips, Poseiden was surprised to see Sally's Brandywine dimples showed. Rubbing her small head of dark-colored, unruly curls that covered her big, majestic eyebrows and full, long lashes that tangle with each other. Poseidon's own lopsided grin brightens as she says " Papa," a dainty, chubby hand grabbed into his tropical Hawaiian shirt, the other little hand grabbed his neat, black beard and sitting herself up.

Poseidon, let out a throaty chuckle as the baby tries to untangle her hand, the laughter vibrated against his chest where she lay; making her juggle and infectious laughter erupted from the unintentional tickling. Smiling brighter than ever, Poseidon wonders if his grin could make his nephew, Apollo, be envious of. Trying to hush his giggling daughter as he attempted to reduce his own laughter. Leaning on her arms she gave her father a sloppy kiss on the bushy check, shocking her father. An affectionate smile adorned his face as gave her a little kiss as well, her little button nose scrunched up as the beard scruffed her face.

Looking up at the clock nearby to see it was almost midnight, he sighs wistfully and his deep voice starts low and soothing like the current luring you into the ocean.

An old greek lullaby, the one he used to sing to his immortal children so long ago, swaying her into a deep sleep in his arms. When she started to flutter her eyes to sleep, the last time her eyes open the luminosity and wholly were just the ocean color, no whites, just sea-green clashing with the ocean blue and in the middle the pupil looked like a black island giving off electricity. Poseidon starred as her powerful aura showed and her eyes burned eerie in the dark as she gave off one last yawn, snuggling up to her awed father, listening to his stuttering heartbeat; she fell asleep.

Poseidon reflected on his past and his other mortal children; as he rose to tuck his first mortal daughter under her large, handmade sea-themed quilt. He watched as she nestled almost completely under the blanket and started to drool, he chuckled at their similarity. Waving his hand in the air with a stuffed princess mermaid in his hand he gently lifted the blanket of the sea to protect her.

Rising to his powerful build; Poseidon grabbed his trident off the wall and was ready to leave, but a thought stops him. Her aura; it stops him about how powerful she already showed, he didn't want her to be found by his brothers or any of his family members. Looking back at her to see her all cuddled up with her new doll as a pillow. He thought about all the times he failed to protect all his other children, how he didn't get to see them grow or give them chances to get them away from the horrors of a hero's life.

This is his first child since World War II and a little girl by that, by the Fates, that's never happened before. Memories of his past children's deaths and pain came to like the destructive storms he makes; tearing him into grief and pain that he didn't realize that he was near his daughter cradle once again. Small drops of rain fell from his eyes and onto her as he watches her sleep peacefully, untouched from the tragic world that awaits her.

Feeling an unfamiliar weight in his hand, he looks down to see a necklace. A necklace that his own mother, Queen Rhea, gave him so long ago. A soft velvet voice filtered into his head, one he almost forget after eons of her missing, 'When the time comes, give this to the Sea Rose.' Rhea's beautiful face and kind smile were vivid in his mind as he studied the necklace he has forgotten about.

It was a seaweed-wrapped leather-like with multi-layered of small seashells, ivory bones, and shark teeth. Pearls gathered around a small blooming sea color rose with each leather band connected to the petals of the rose. The words 'Παράδεισος Καταιγίδα' engraved in the back was his mother's elegant writing.

Tracing the flower, Poseidon lay it down on the little dresser nearby with a crooked, affectionate smile on his face he backed away and started to vapor away.

"Happy Birthday, Persephone Jackson. I love you very much, my little Sea Rose." sang the breeze as it filled the room; making the Sea Princess smile in her sleep.

Later that morning, a young brown-haired woman came into the tropical-filled room and saw a sea leather necklace on the wooden dresser. Light tears fell from her sea-blue eyes as a gentle smile spread across her lips as she thought about how her old lover visited and showed he cares for their daughter.

Hearing a whimpered "Papa", she turns around to face her daughter with her rich, rambunctious curls weaved in with yellow, tea-colored and red rosebuds in her hair like a small crown; marking her like a princess.

Heleniums fell from her pretty eyes intermixing with salty tears as she looked around, clearly looking for the 'Papa' from the night before. Sally watched Persephone looked down at her little hands to see a beautifully stitched mermaid doll being clutched protectively.

The young woman wished life would be easy for Persephone but sighed knowing it never will be, not with her family's or Poseidon's luck.

Hey, this is my first fic and I know it's shorter then I tended to be, sorry. I hope you all like it and I hope for some feedback from you. It will be a mix between Young Justice, D.C. Comics, and the Percy Jackson Books with my own ideas thrown in. I do not own YJ, D.C., or PJO, but I do own my plot and ideas.

Thank You for reading,
