"Who's in the forest stroolling, the birds and the bees sing Momiji
The frogs in the pond are caaaaalling, Momiji yees it's true
The trees raise their leaves togeeether, who needs the sun when we've got you?
The frogs in the ponds are caaaaling, Momiji yeeees it's true." Momiji sang joyously as he skipped through the forest.
He had planned on having a fun day all to himself in the forest, complete with a picnic and tree climbing. Of course, he had invited Tohru along but Kyo and Yuki wouldn't let her go. Still, Momiji was happy to go alone. He had done it before and always enjoyed himself thoroughly.
He had sung his song 68 times now, and he was taking a breath for yet another go when he heard a very faint voice. It sounded like it was singing the tune of his song! He slowly crept towards it and listened in.
"Who's in the forest burning? The boys and the girls scream 'Spare me please'
They all think that I'm appalling, screaming for mercy
They all burn alive together, I watch and laugh because it's funny
I do it for my true love, he will show up soon"
Momiji was a bit scared, to say the least. He definitely didn't want to get burned. In fact, he planned on leaving entirely, but as he took another step he tripped over a hidden branch. He fell on a pile of leaves and made a ton of noise.
He heard silence. And then, in a rushed voice: "It's you, isn't it?! I've been waiting so long for you, you are my true love!" It was the voice that had been singing. Momiji sat up but didn't make any more movement. He was scared.
"Oh, I bet you think I'm going to hurt you. I would never, you're my soul mate! I promise, just come talk to me, please." It sounded desperate. Momiji, being gullible as he was, stood up and started walking in the direction of the voice.
After a moment of walking he came upon a clearing. Upon first glance, he saw no one, but then when he looked again there was a... flamethrower? Right in the middle of the clearing. He scratched his head. "Hello?" He called. But then it spoke...
"Momiji, that's your name isn't it. I'm here, I know, I'm a flame thrower. It's a curse. It made me look this way. It can only be cured by a touch from my true love" It spoke frantically.
"But.. I'm not your true love." Momiji said, utterly confused.
"Please... Please just try" It said.
"Weren't you singing about murder?"
"I did it because that was what the witch who cursed me promised would bring you here... And it did. Please... Please" It sounded like it was crying softly.
Momiji felt bad for the... flamethrower girl. He sighed. "I'll try, but it might not work." He hesitantly walked over to where it, she, sat waiting and grabbed the handle with both hands.
Suddenly the clearing filled with light and a weird sound filled the air. Momiji blinked a few times and suddenly realized he was holding a girl now, about his age, with wavy black hair and green eyes. He suddenly embraced her.
"Judy!" I didn't know it was you!" Momiji started crying softly. "I missed you so much, love." He hugged her even harder.
"I missed you so much too, Momiji." Judy smiled evilly. Her memory altering spell had worked. Momiji was under her control.
