Haunting Thoughts

Um, hi? I guess Sand Chronicles doesn't feel love since there were only six fanfics of it. *sighs* Depressing, I say so myself. Well, it's been a while since I read the manga that I really enjoyed. I should go reread it sometime, time that I don't have at the moment.

Muse Chibi Kitty Kaido: Neko Hoshi doesn't own Sand Chronicles, Hinako Ashihara does. She's only doing this for fun and not for any gain.

Neko: Enjoy!

'What was this feeling?' Ann asked herself as she say by herself with her school work around her on the stained desk. Looking up from the English essay that was due in a few days, she looked at the pictures that used to cause bitter tears. She wasn't sure why they were bitter, maybe because of the distance that she had between some of the people in it. Who knows?

The pictures of winter when she showed up at her mother's hometown. When everything seemed so innocent when darkness bubbled under the surface, waiting to strike.

Shaking her head, she slapped her cheeks to get herself to concentrate on the homework. 'I wonder how Shika and everyone are doing? Maybe she got to catch that snow hare that she saw so many times.'

Smirking, Ann pushed her chair away from the desk. Looking at the clock, it seemed forever for her father to come home. She still had science and math that were due the next day to do. Hopefully Kaede would do dinner or get something so she could finish all this blasted work that the teachers assigned.

Settling back in the chair – that was second hand but still usably – for a quick stretch, she stared at the picture,

It seemed so long since she was last in Shimane. She had her old friends back but lost Daigo to the distance. Maybe what they say about long distance relationships was true. Or maybe they just weren't made for each other.

"Gotta work." She muttered to herself as she turned her gaze to the papers that needed her attention. As she worked through a math problem, her mind just started to wonder again.

Sighing in defeat, she leaned back and stared at the picture that she knew so well besides the others. She felt conflicted. She still cared for Daigo but it was getting weaker. Maybe Fuji was the one.

'Shika, how are you doing? I'm doing great besides these haunting thoughts.' Ann thought as she stared at the picture absentmindedly. Silence engulfed the room as she continued to stare at the pictures with all the memories she cared about.

"Ann, I'm home. I brought dinner." Kaede announced with a slam of the door following the yell.

"Finally. Now I can survive." She mumbled as she left the memories and thoughts there with her homework in her hand.

First time I made a Sand Chronicle fanfic/oneshot. Oh, I haven't read the entire thing so don't spaz on me for that. I hope you liked it. Please review! :3
