Best friends: chapter two
Marius's POV:
I walk towards the café, humming a tune. "Marius!" I hear a slurred yell coming from the window. "Bonjour!" The man in the window takes a sip out of a bottle. "Grantaire, put the bottle down." Grantaire takes another gulp, then yells in a loud voice, "C'mon in!" He disappears from the window. I enter the café and spot Grantaire, Joly, Azelma, and Combeferre in our usual spot by the window. Grantaire is drunk, as usual, Joly is cleaning the table, and Azelma and Combeferre are watching Grantaire in awe. I sit by Azelma. "What's wrong?" She asks. "Has 'Ponine mentioned anything that's bothering her recently? Or Carrie?" Zelma shakes her head, and goes back to watching Grantaire. "Gran, seriously. You're drunk." Ferre says. "Gimmie the bottle." He holds out his hand. Gran hugs the bottle, and then cradles it like it's his baby. We all laugh, except Joly. "This place is disguising." He mummers to himself. I laugh, and say, "Then go home Joly." He grumbles some more. "You know, I'm going to. I'm tired. And I'll take Gran home too. He needs some help." Joly grabs Gran and yanks him out of his chair. "G'bye!" Gran shouts at us as Joly pulls him out the door. "Goodbye, Gran." We laugh. "Anyway, Marius, why do you ask?" Ferre says. I shrug. "I just feel like they're keeping something from me." Zelma laughs. "You're talking bout Ponine, Marius. My older sister. Of course she keeps things from people. She's a Thènardier!" I shrug again. "But I'm her best friend. She should tell me." Zelma puts her hand on my shoulder. "She'll tell you when she's ready. I promise." I mumble, not looking at her. In time, Ferre and Zelma both leave. I sit alone at our table in the corner, staring at the wall. Then I hear a gunshot.
hey! So, thank you for reading my Fic! It means a lot! Anyway, I could really use some feedback! I've already written to chapter four, but if there's anything I can do to make my story better tell me! Thanks! ~ .roses
