It was dark in the Vongola's secret base. Dark and quiet. Just as Gokudera liked it. Well, aside from the absence of the Tenth.
Inspecting his own fingers as he walked, he sighed. Uri had gotten out somehow, and attacked him out of the blue. She broke the skin, but not enough to draw too much blood. Hearing footsteps coming from the darkness of the corridor up ahead, Gokudera hid his hand in his pocket.
I mustn't let the Tenth see the injury. Gokudera frowned at the thought. Tsuna was prone to worrying. Overworrying, as Reborn put it once, during a training excercise. The Tenth surely was amazing, in every aspect. Well, almost every aspect.
There were times where he wished that he, Tsuna, would think of himself more often. There were times that Gokudera wished Tsuna wouldn't exhaust himself. Hence why Gokudera was walking this late at night. He was going to give Tsuna a day off, whether he liked it or not. He would deal with Reborn's punishments later, whatever they may be.
After what felt like an eternity, Gokudera finally reached the bunker in which Tsuna was training. It was dimly lit, however, Tsuna's dying will flames gave off enough light to see clearly. But where was he?
Tsuna was in the room, Gokudera knew that much. Taking a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, Gokudera placed one in his mouth, and lit it.
"Gokudera-kun, I wish you wouldn't do that."
Gokudera hummed lightly, looking up, only to see a pair of chocolate brown eyes looking at him worriedly. "Do what, Tenth? I came to give you a day off."
Gokudera's reply made Tsuna worry even more. Did he somehow get in trouble? "A day off? What do you mean, Gokudera-kun? I promised to return everyone to a peaceful past. The raid on the Millefiore is in two days, and-"
The look on Gokudera's face was enough to silence Tsuna.
Something which Gokudera didn't mean to do. At least not entirely.
"The Tenth needs to rest. Yuuni and the others are capable of taking on Byakuran. Feel free to punish me later, but you have no choice in the matter." Taking a dreg from his cigarette, Gokudera looked directly at Tsuna, noting the defeat in the Tenth's face. Shit. He couldn't do it after all. "I mean-"
"No, it's fine. Thank you, Gokudera-kun."
"No need to thank me, Tenth. I-"
The Tenth hugged him. It was a good thing the Tenth couldn't see his face right now.
"Thank you, Hyato. I'll remember this."
Gokudera nearly dropped his cigarette. He tightened the grip on his hand, wincing as his fingers burned. Nothing would do to interrupt this moment. Except...
"Hey, Gokudera. Tsuna. What kind of training are you two doing?"
Gokudera would forever hold a grudge on Yamamoto, after this.
