"We live through this, and I promise I'll introduce you to my whole family."
Magnus still grins at the thought of Alec actually going through with his promise. Not that he's going to go through with it, but it's a nice thought. He smiles, remembering the shock on Alec's face when he told him he loved him. Naive little shadowhunter.
He wasn't lying when he told him that. He really has fall for him, love at first sight. As soon as he saw Alec at his party, he couldn't help but want him. He wants him, and wants to know everything that there is to know. Not that he doesn't have an idea already, but he wants Alec to say them to him. To trust him with his well kept secrets.
Magnus knows that he is getting older, and he needs to stop playing these games and finally settle down. And he knows that shadowhunters settled down early in life, because they die early. No one is promised tomorrow, but the shadowhunters practically beg for death to come to their door.
Magnus knows the high stakes in loving a shadowhunter, who is in active duty like Alec is. But Magnus himself is not a saint. He has enemies, but he also has allies. One day, he is sure that someone is going to kill him. He's at peace with the fact. So, Alec and he are not so different after all.
"If that alone is good enough, the world would be much simpler." Magnus thinks. Life is not simple. Life is full of twists and turns, and of prejudice. The unfortunate part is that they actually care about what people think of them. If they didn't, they may actually be themselves one hundred percent of the time.
Life may not be simple, but love is. Love is involuntary, love comes easily. Love does not humiliate, or discriminate. Love just is. We do not choose who to love, we just love. Most of the time, that's enough. That they fall in love, then they chase. Then they get their hearts shattered. Which is ok, it's the circle of love.
He just hopes that he's able to break the cycle, and actually get the guy for once. He has never felt like this, and he won't let go or give up easily.
