"It's here! The curse, it's here!" the words of doom echoed through the town. She knew it, they all knew it, yet up until that moment they had hoped it wouldn't come to it. And then she laughed, she actually laughed wholeheartedly. Because it really was funny that she… that they could not get one moment of peace. Perhaps she didn't deserve it, not even that one moment of happiness. She was just so tired, physically and emotionally. She just wanted to give in, but she knew that surrender was not an option. Making sure Henry was safe was all that mattered.
"What are we going to do?" the pleading voice of the savior brought her back to reality "We can fix this, right?"
"We can't." she said quietly, sound barely escaping her lips.
"But that's what you said about the diamond and then we moved the freaking Moon and…"
"Emma, please…"
"…and I thought our magic... I can't lose my family. I refuse to say goodbye! After everything I can't just…"
"Emma stop!" her trembled. The sadness in those hazel green eyes was breaking her heart. "It's too late. I don't know what will happen now so just take Henry and run as far as you can. Live a normal life and at least let us find solace in you two being safe from this madness. And hopefully one day…" she let the words die on her lips.
"You know I can't do that, right?" the blonde said after mustering enough strength to look Regina in the eyes.
"I know." she said in response, "You are too stubborn to. God, If somebody had told me that I would miss the days when you just wanted to take Henry and…" She did not manage to finish the sentence; Emma's arms wrapped around her and rendered her speechless. There was nothing more to say after all. That hug said it all, all they didn't say and all they could never say.
