Short one-shot I wrote with Lie to Me in mind. This takes place after - choose your action - when Gillian is not the happy person she usually is. Personally, I think of losing Sophie.
Enjoy and please review!
But when she needs him, he is not there.
As her husband, he is supposed to care for her and take care of her in moments like these; when she all can do is cry and try to scramble upright again after having fallen so hard. Isn't it part of what they had to swear when they married? In sickness and health? He seemed to have forgotten the first noun.
Because when she is happy, he is fine. He smiles with her, laughs with her, and she doesn't see that shadow of darkness in his eyes. He seems carefree.
But moments like these, the shadow is there. It is a shadow of doubt and guilt, and it only brings slight comfort to know that he knows he's not doing it right.
But that does not make it any better.
She wants to work on it – she still loves him, she thinks perhaps a part of her always will, right through the shadows of their life together.
She is not weak. Many times she has stood up when she has fallen, she has taken abuse and pain and learned to live with it. She has continued her life in times of great distress.
But now she needs someone who shows her love, affection and empathy, and who tells her not everything is black. Who introduces – or rather, re-introduces – her to the beauties of this world.
But he is not that person.
This is about Alec, of course - not Cal!
