Jyn woke up to the sound of thunder and the bright flashing light of lightning. She was terrified of thunderstorms. She pulled her arms up to cover her face, as if to shield her from the storm. Cassian must have woken up when she shifted, being such a light sleeper, he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"What is it?" He nuzzled the spot where her neck met her shoulder.
"Nothing."
"Jyn."
"Really Cassian its nothing."
"Jyn." He pressed her back closer to her stomach.
"Fine, jus-just don't tell anyone else okay?"
"Okay?" He chuckled a bit.
"Okay, I'm-I'm a tiny bit scared of thunderstorms." She shifted around so that she could bury her face into his chest.
Cassian laughed and pulled her closer.
"And you think that that is so horrible because?" Jyn looked up at him.
"Because, Cassian, because it's just… I don't like being vulnerable and I feel like this is a vulnerability." Cassian frowned and puller her up to eye level.
"Jyn, that's okay. A lot of people are scared of thunderstorms."
"I know, it's just that…I don't know. I just am scared of them." Cassian laughed.
"Jyn, that's okay."
"Really?"
"Jyn, you are being unreasonable with yourself."
"Really?
"Jyn."
"Okay, okay." Jyn went quiet and cuddled into his chest.
Everything went quiet for a while.
"Cassian?" Jyn spoke up hopefully.
"Yes?" Cassian sounded tired and exasperated.
"You're with me, right?"
"All the way."
She snuggled into his chest and went to sleep. She had slept better before, but she was glad. Jyn had never, in her entire life, slept through a storm. This time when she woke up it was sunny outside. Even on base she could appreciate the nature around her, especially since she could wake up with Cassian every day.
